OREGON TEAM HEADS TO BARCELONA AS VICTOR FRANZONI IS SET TO MAKE HIS LAMBORGHINI SUPER TROFEO EUROPE DEBUT
Oregon Team heads to Barcelona-Montmeló this coming weekend for the third of five Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe rounds. After having seized the first podium of the season one month ago at the Nürburgring with the Pro duo Dorian Boccolacci and Kevin Gilardoni – who were able to finish second in race two – the Italian squad aims again to the top spots.
In the highest class Boccolacci and Gilardoni are sixth in the drivers’ standings, 19 points behind championship leaders Raul Guzman and Milos Pavlović, but still in full contention for a thrilling finale. The French and Italian/Swiss pair started with a fourth position in the inaugural race at Misano, both making their debut in the series, and showed a progressive improvement.
Different story in the Pro-Am class, where Lorenzo Bontempelli will be paired with newcomer Brazilian Victor Franzoni, who replaces Damiano Fioravanti. The 25-year-old racing driver from Saõ Paulo, who is the 2017 Pro Mazda champion, with several experiences in single seater – included the Indy Lights, where he was a race winner at Road America two years ago – and then in the IMSA, is set to make his series’ debut.
Official test kick-off the entire event tomorrow. Free practice sessions are scheduled on Friday. Qualifying one and two will start on Saturday at 10:45. The first of two 50-minute races, with rolling start and the mandatory pit-stop, will commence at 14:45. Race two is scheduled on Sunday at 10:50, livestreamed on Lamborghini Squadra Corse Facebook page and YouTube channel.
