Nobuya Yamanaka is delighted to confirm that he will compete in the European Le Mans Series this year with Nielsen Racing. This is the next step for the Japanese gentleman driver as he seeks to achieve his ambition in competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Together with BAM Motorsport Promotions, Nobu has put together a comprehensive programme of testing and competition that will ultimately lead to his participation in the most prestigious sports car race in the world.

Nobu is currently cutting his teeth in the Asian Le Mans Series where he’s competing in the Pro-Am LMP3 class with Eurasia Motorsport. The programme to date has been successful with Nobu quickly getting up to speed and learning from his more experienced teammate Aidan Read.

The next step is into the European Le Mans Series where he will race alongside James Littlejohn in the LMP3 class. The British driver most recently competed in the Michelin Le Mans Cup where he finished on the podium four times in the seven rounds on his way to third in the championship.

The Championship consists of six rounds, the first of which takes place at Paul Ricard in April and concludes at Portimao in October.

Nobu Yamanaka
“It is quite an honour for me to join the prestigious European Le Mans Series organised by ACO. I’m looking forward to entry for 2019 European Le Mans Series with Nielsen Racing Team and my partner driver, James. I’m excited to race around the famous European Circuits in the Series and very much appreciate ACO and Nielsen Racing Team for my entry.”

David Madgwick, BAM Motorsport Promotions MD
“Nobu has really impressed in Asian Le Mans thus far particularly given his level of experience in this type of car, making few mistakes and showing ever increasing pace bringing him well into the pack of similarly rated bronze drivers. Having seen this progress and considered various options we felt Nobu was ready for the challenge of European Le Mans Series and that the challenge would go a long way to helping him on his journey to race the Le Mans 24 hours. In James Littlejohn we have a co-driver with a wealth of experience and pace who has proved himself an excellent coach and co-driver in LMP3 so we think the pairing will make excellent progress together.”
