NESOV/MOISEEV CLAIM TWO GT OPEN AM PODIUM FINISHES AT THE PAUL RICARD IN THE ANTONELLI MOTORSPORT’S MERCEDES
Team Antonelli Motorsport duo Alexander Moiseev and Alexey Nesov completed a fruitful weekend at the Paul Ricard circuit, in the Kaspersky backed-outfit Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, in the second of the six International GT Open rounds.
The two Russian drivers, after finishing third in the Am class at the Hungaroring opener, only two weeks ago, in France claimed two second positions to move up to 3rd in the Drivers’ standings, with a four-point gap from the leaders and brand mates Jens Liebhauser and Florian Scholze.
In the Saturday’s Race 1, Moiseev and 17-year-old Nesov – who is at his very first season in GT racing – recovered well to take the P9 overall.
In Race 2 they finished in the top-10 again, with Nesov that started from the fifth row before handing over the car to his team-mate who maintained the same position.
Unfortunately a problem occurred in the practice prevented the team to field a second Mercedes car for youngster Lorenzo Ferrari – one of the Italian GT Championship front-runners – and team manager Marco Antonelli.
The next commitment for team Antonelli Motorsport is scheduled in one week in the Italian GT, at the Imola track.
