Matteo Cairoli will head to Monza this coming weekend, 17th/18th July, for the third race of the FIA WEC season where he is determined to take the top of the LMGTE Am standings.
Having begun the year very impressively taking the GT World Challenge victory at the same home track last April and claiming a legendary success at the 24H Nürburgring, the 25-year-old Italian racing driver is now looking for a deserved return to the top spot of the podium in the World Endurance Championship.
Sharing driving duties with Egidio Perfetti and Riccardo Pera in the Team Project 1 Porsche 911 RSR, Cairoli finished second in the 8 Hours of Portimão one month ago to re-open the battle for the class supremacy.
Cairoli, Pera and Perfetti actually lay on P3 in the stanginds, 25 points shy of the front-runners.
The 6 Hours of Monza will commence on Friday with the first of three free practices. Two more sessions will be held on Saturday ahead of the qualifying at 18. The race will start on Sunday at noon.
