This weekend, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe will take place on one of the most “iconic” and historic circuits. The over seven kilometers of the Spa-Francorchamps track will host the fourth of the six double rounds of the continental series, which will take place on the same weekend as the 24 Hours, in a context of absolute importance. During its ten editions, the one-make series for the cars of the House of Sant’Agata Bolognese has never missed its appointment with the Belgian circuit and this important milestone will be celebrated with almost 50 Huracán Super Trofeo Evos on the grid. The level is high and games are still open in all four classes, therefore it will be a balanced and entertaining challenge, with 22 drivers who have so far taken the top step of the podium.
In the PRO category, Giacomo Altoé will try and defend the leadership he has been holding since the Monza round, the first of the season. The young Italian driver of the Antonelli Motorsport team and new member of the “Young Drivers Program” of Lamborghini Squadra Corse has two victories to his credit and will be joined again by the more expert Daniel Zampieri, with whom he won Race 2 at Silverstone. Only three points separate him from the crew of Imperiale Racing formed by Karol Basz and Vito Postiglione, who are the only ones to have scored a victory on all tracks and boast a total of three wins. Extremely consistent, but still looking for their first victory with the colors of Bonaldi Motorsport, James Pull and Kelvin Snoeks are third and sit 20 points from the top of the standings. Right behind them are Joffrey De Narda and Kikko Galbiati (Antonelli Motorsport) in fourth position in the championship standings. Further back are Felipe Ortiz and Tuomas Tujula, who celebrated their first victory with VS Racing at Misano.
Loris Spinelli and Juan Perez are leading the PRO-AM standings thanks to a poker of victories. The Italo-Colombian duo of Antonelli Motorsport has a ten-point lead over Takashi Kasai. The Japanese driver will again share the cockpit of the VS Racing car with Philipp Wlazik, with whom he started the season with a victory at Monza. Eyes will also be focused on Emanuele Zonzini and Lorenzo Bontempelli, who took their first victory with the Iron Lynx team at Misano and moved up third in the championship standings. Behind them is the other VS Racing crew consisting of Hans-Peter Koller and Edoardo Liberati, the latter also scored two consecutive pole positions.
After taking a victory with the Dörr Motorsport team in the latest round at Misano, the Germans Manuel Lauck and Florian Scholze jumped in the lead of the AM ranking and are now aiming to “repeat” the victory achieved at the Ardennes circuit last year. Three points behind them is Andrej Lewandowski; the Polish driver of VS Racing had previously monopolized the Silverstone round with August MacBeth. Glauco Solieri, in his first season in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe with the Antonelli Motorsport team, took a victory at Misano and is now third in the championship standings. Immediately behind him is Raffaele Giannoni (Automobili Tricolore), who scored two wins on his home circuit at Monza.
This racing season has so far had four different winners in the Lamborghini Cup, which sees Gerard Van der Horst at the top of the standings. The Dutchman has scored two victories, just like James Collado (AGS Events), who is second with a 15-point gap. Supachai Weeraborwornpong (Team Lazarus) and Willian Van Deyzen (Van der Horst Motorsport) have so far taken a win each.
There will also be two “lady” drivers: Carrie Schreiner, who will share the cockpit of the Konrad Motorsport car with Fabian Vettel (brother of the F1 driver Sebastian), and Francesca Linossi, who will again be paired with Stefano Colombo in another Huracán Super Trofeo Evo of Iron Lynx. Riccardo Agostini, 2017 PRO champion of the North American series and winner of the past edition of the World Final, will be back in the driving seat along with Davide Roda in another car of the Antonelli Motorsport team.
The two 60-minute free practice sessions will be held respectively at 10.35 a.m. and 2:55 p.m. CEST on Thursday. On Friday morning, from 9:50 p.m. CEST, there will be the two qualifying sessions, each lasting 20 minutes. Also on Friday, the first of the two 50-minute races, with rolling start and mandatory pit-stop, will kick off at 1:50 p.m. CEST. Lastly, Race 2 will start at 10:25 a.m. CEST on Saturday.
Both races can be followed in live streaming on the website squadracorse.lamborghini.com/live-streaming and on the Lamborghini Squadra Corse
