KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) is set to compete in the 2023 Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia campaign, with KCMG founder Paul Ip and Edoardo Liberati teaming up at the wheel of a Honda NSX GT3.

The Hong Kong-based team last competed in the series in 2018, when it ran under the Blancpain GT Series Asia name. Liberati was part of that effort, securing three overall podiums on his way to sixth in the standings alongside Florian Strauss. The 2022 Italian GT Championship winner has competed for KCMG at several GT3 races around the world, including the Nürburgring 24 Hours, 24 Hours of Spa and Bathurst 12 Hour.

Ip has recent experience driving the NSX, taking GT3-Am victory at Mugello in the Italian GT Championship before competing at the FIA Motorsport Games at Paul Ricard last October. The Hong Kong native also secured the GT-Am championship in the Asian Le Mans Series in 2015-16.

The 2023 Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia field will race on all three of the circuits Ip was victorious at during his Asian Le Mans Series triumph, with visits to Chang International Circuit, Fuji Speedway and Sepang International Circuit all on the calendar. Three more rounds in Japan, in addition to the trip to Fuji, make up the Japan Cup, with Suzuka International Racing Course, Mobility Resort Motegi and Okayama International Circuit all set to host a round.

EDOARDO LIBERATI
“I’m so excited to be back racing in Asia, it’s something I’ve always enjoyed and now travel is easier, I can’t wait to get over there again. GT World Challenge Asia is a very challenging and competitive championship, so I’m really looking forward to sharing this journey with Paul and the team. KCMG is like a second family for me, I trust them and thank them for their belief in me. I’m sure we have a strong car and can be competitive throughout the season.”

PAUL IP KCMG FOUNDER
“I’m delighted to be taking on a new challenge this season in Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia with my team. SRO has done an amazing job to rebuild the championship since the global pandemic and assemble the region’s most competitive GT3 grid. It’s going to be really exciting to race alongside Edo, who won the Italian GT Championship last year, and see what we can achieve with the Honda NSX GT3. It’s been a while since I’ve raced in Asia, particularly in Japan, and I’m really looking forward to it. It’s something that I personally truly enjoy, and hopefully we can put in some positive performances.”

MATT HOWSON TEAM MANAGER
“It’s exciting to be returning to GT3 competition in Asia with KCMG. SRO’s series looks to be especially impressive this year and will provide a high level of competition for the drivers and a good challenge for us. It’s always a pleasure to have Paul racing within his own team, and along with KCMG superstar Edo we’ll be pushing for strong results right from the beginning. We’re looking forward to getting the season started.”
