KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) is set to take on the historic Nürburgring Nordschleife for the first round of the Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie (NLS) on 26 March. The team will compete in the series for a fourth consecutive year as they prepare for the ADAC TotalEnergies Nürburgring 24 Hours on 26-29 May.
The Hong Kong-based team made an excellent start to 2022 with a podium finish on debut at the 24 Hours at Daytona in January, and will remain in partnership with Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific for a third season.
The squad’s driver line-up will include Dennis Olsen, who was a key part of the team’s success in Daytona and tested at the Nordschleife last weekend. The Norwegian racer will be joined by Australian Josh Burdon, a KCMG regular at the Nürburgring since 2019. They will compete in the #18 Porsche 911 GT3 R, which will sport the team’s familiar white, black and blue colours. Alexandre Imperatori joined the team for the pre-season test but has since had to return to China for visa-related issues.
Porsche currently holds the record for most NLS manufacturer victories on the 25.378 km circuit, with KCMG set to take part in the opening three rounds ahead of the 24-hour race in May.
DENNIS OLSEN
“I’m really looking forward to the opening weekend of the NLS season. We had a positive few days’ testing, the car feels great around the Nordschleife and the team is doing an amazing job. We’re getting back in the rhythm, and we’re ready to continue our preparations for the Nürburgring 24 Hours. Our expectations are high for this season so we’re aiming for a strong result to kick off our campaign.”
JOSH BURDON
“I’m excited to return to the Nordschelife for NLS 1 this weekend with KCMG and Dennis. The team had a successful pre-season test and I’m confident we have a car capable of fighting at the front. Fingers crossed the rain stays away, and I look forward to getting back on track.”
ALEXANDRE IMPERATORI
“Our preparation for the season started positively with a good test at the Nürburgring last weekend. It was great to be back here and although our running was limited by the weather on Sunday, we still made several improvements to our setup. I’m very disappointed that I won’t be able to continue the momentum at NLS 1 this weekend due to flight changes and the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak in China, but hopefully I can be back soon. Best of luck to Dennis, Josh and the team for the upcoming weekend!”
MATT HOWSON TEAM MANAGER
“We had a productive first test on the Nordschleife last weekend, easing ourselves back into the feel of the circuit and running through an extensive list of test items with Dennis and Alex. It’s clear we’re going to be stronger than ever so I’m looking forward to NLS 1 and getting that first race in the bag as we continue our build-up to this year’s Nürburgring 24 Hours.”
PAUL IP KCMG FOUNDER
“It’s great to be returning to the Nürburgring for the start of the 2022 NLS season. Testing went well and the team is in a great position going into the opening race. We’re very happy to continue our partnership with Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific and return/come back to the Nordschleife with the 911 GT3 R, especially after our success together at Daytona in January. Unfortunately, Alex had to travel to China after the test due to visa-related issues, but we still have two experienced and quick drivers in the car so I’m confident we can begin the season strongly.”
