Toro Verde GT is very happy to announce that experienced racer Jake Giddings will be joining the team as he makes a return to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, some four years after his debut in the series, expanding the team’s line-up to three drivers.
Jake became GT4 champion at the first attempt in the British GT Championship in 2014, taking four wins and three further podium finishes. Making appearances in 2015, ’16, and ’17, he returned last season, in a Pro-Am Mercedes-AMG GT4, claiming a best finish of third place at Donington Park, while he also raced the car at the Dubai 24 Hours in 2020.
Having competed in a wide variety of machinery over his career, which began back in 2009, Jake sampled previous generations of Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars with appearances in Dubai in 2015 and a one off at Snetterton in the Carrera Cup four seasons ago, where he finished fourth in the Pro-Am class.
This season the Wisbech-native is expected to line up in the Pro category as the series introduces the latest 992-style 911 GT3 Cup car. While the car is another step forward in performance and handling, the 27-year-old has been performing well in testing and his recent time in GT racing should put him in good stead for the season-opener, alongside team-mates Angus Whiteside and Peter Kyle-Henney at Donington Park in April.

“I think the competitiveness of the Carrera Cup really appealed to me. I’ve always wanted to do the series – I struggled with getting budget for a couple of years but managed to commit to it this year, with thanks to Finesse Paving and Civil Engineering, Barhill Motors, and Outwell Timber for their continued support in making this happen.
“I did one weekend in the Carrera Cup in 2018, as a one-off round and got on okay, but the 992-style car is a lot more on edge all the time. It is a lot better than a GT4 and feels like a proper race car, though the brakes have been a big thing for me to get used to. I think we’ll be close to GT3 in pace, so the first time I drove the car I did wonder what I had let myself in for! The competition is close and you get a real sense of reward if you do well in it as a driver and when you start hooking the car up.”
