Italian racing team Iron Lynx will come to the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans race more prepared than ever as they chase their dreams of endurance success.

As overall winner of the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa just two weeks ago, the team has firmly established its credentials as a 24-hour race winning force. It has also competed in the wider FIA World Endurance Championship for the first time this year, accumulating valuable miles and experience for the team in the lead-up to the greatest endurance race of them all.

Three Ferrari 488 GTE EVO 2020 cars are entered by Iron Lynx in the LMGTE Am class. Car #60 will be driven by Claudio Schiavoni, Paolo Ruberti and Raffaele Giammaria, and #80 will be campaigned by Matteo Cressoni and Rino Mastronardi – who will be joined by Scuderia Ferrari’s official Formula 1 test driver Callum Ilott, competing for the first time at La Sarthe. The all-female Iron Dames squad will be in car #85 with Rahel Frey and Michelle Gatting joined by Sarah Bovy in her first Le Mans outing.

Iron Lynx will also be competing in the Road to Le Mans support races in the GT3 category with two cars, #8 for Rory Penttinen and Logan Sargeant and a further Iron Dames entry, #9 for Manuela Gostner and Doriane Pin.

In 2020, Iron Lynx achieved a second-place finish in the first Road to Le Mans race, while in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, one of the Iron Lynx entries was forced to retire from the category lead of the race, the other two cars finishing ninth and eleventh. The team is naturally aiming for its best result yet at Le Mans.

The team is in the thick of its ambitious 2021 season which has already secured success in both GT racing and Formula 4 and built the reputation of Iron Lynx as a formidable competitor across multiple championships. It is using the highest-profile event on its competition calendar to launch a new campaign under the hashtag #RaceToInspire.

Team Principal Andrea Piccini takes up the story: “This year has shown how international sporting endeavour can lift people’s spirits and inspire them to reach for more in their daily lives. With Iron Lynx and Iron Dames, we have a platform to engage and inspire, and Le Mans is the perfect place to show this.”

Having thrilled viewers around the world with its epic victory at Spa, Iron Lynx’s cars and team overalls will all carry the #RaceToInspire message at Le Mans, as an echo of the team’s “never give up” spirit.

Similarly, the Iron Dames cars will also feature the #RaceToInspire message, to underline further the example being set by the Iron Dames in fielding all-female squads in the world’s highest-profile endurance series, and to continue setting an example for young female talents throughout motorsport.
