The trio of Alvaro Parente, Misha Goikhberg and Trent Hindman will again combine forces for the second IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup race of the season. The No. 57 Heinricher Racing with Meyer Shank Racing squad will head to Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta for the six-hour race.
This endurance event is a new addition to the 2020 event schedule—replacing the traditional Watkins Glen six-hour race weekend due to concerns about COVID-19 in the state of New York. Despite the venue change, Heinricher Racing is looking for its first podium of the season with drivers who have a strong history at the Atlanta track .
Parente’s first and only outing at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta was in 2018 when he and Meyer Shank Racing teammates Hindman and Katherine Legge made a run to second.
“I’m looking forward to heading back to Road Atlanta after a tough race at VIR,” said Parente. “I think we missed the mark on making a few crucial calls at VIR so hopefully we’ll get that fixed for this weekend. It’s always a challenging place over there. We had really good pace there in 2018 so hopefully we can do a good job this weekend.”
Goikhberg has eight podium finishes at Road Atlanta as well as experience onboard a variety of machinery including Trans Am, F2000, F1600 and Prototypes.
“It’s a little sad having to miss Watkins Glen but Road Atlanta is another great old school, historic track,” said Goikhberg. “We are laser-focused on execution and are ready to deliver a result for the team that we know we are capable of.”
Hindman is looking forward to making his return behind the wheel of the No. 57 Acura NSX GT3. Road Atlanta was the site where Hindman secured his 2019 IMSA GTD championship, and he is hoping to match that success during this year’s event.
“It’s hard to believe that eight whole months have passed since the 2020 Rolex 24 and the last time I worked with the Heinricher Racing team,” said Hindman. “Fortunately, the time away from the team hasn’t translated to time out of an Acura NSX. I’ve been fortunate to stay behind the wheel of the NSX GT3 this year in World Challenge so I look forward to sharing some of the lessons learned during that time with Alvaro and Misha. Whether it’s six hours at the Glen or at Road Atlanta, the goal of getting the No. 57 team the first win of the year remains the same.”
