Alvaro Parente and Misha Goikhberg will race under the lights at the Charlotte ROVAL in the No. 57 Heinricher Racing with Meyer Shank Racing Acura NSX GT3 for the first time on Saturday night.
The 2.32-mile circuit, which includes portions of the Charlotte Motor Speedway oval as well as the infield road course, presents a unique setup for the 100-minute field of all GT cars.
Currently sitting eighth in the IMSA Team Championship, Heinricher Racing is looking to continue its climb up the points standings this weekend. The team comes into the event with confidence and a competitive edge after completing a test at the track last month.
“The track is definitely very technical and has corners that are very tricky,” said Goikhberg. “It’s great that we had the opportunity to test there a few weeks ago, which I think will give us an advantage over our competition. It’s a quick sprint race at night, so it should be pretty intense for the whole 100 minutes. I’m very excited to see what we can do and hopefully keep working towards getting a podium result for the team.”
“We tested at the ROVAL a few weeks ago and I expect a challenging race,” said Parente. “It reminds me of a street course as there are walls very close to you on the track so there’s not much room for mistakes. The test was good because we are definitely more prepared for the race as we found a few things to improve the setup. Fingers crossed for a clean race and hopefully getting a solid result.”
It will be a busy weekend for Heinricher Racing with one practice session on Friday. Saturday will see a practice session, qualifying (2:00pm ET on TRACKPASS) and then the 100-minute grand prix race at 8:05pm ET.
