Drivex repeated his feat of last year’s win at Paul Ricard with Marcelo Hahn and Alan Hellmeister cruising to another Pro-Am win in their Mercedes AMG GT3. It was the second class achievement in the 2018 International GT Open for Hahn as Allam Khodair and he himself already won Sunday’s race at Estoril.
On Thursday, during private testing, Hahn and Hellmeister made a positive start to the weekend as they lead the way for Drivex clocking a time of 2:01.744, the single car lapping faster than 2.02 and six tenths clear of his nearest rival. The positive outing continued on Friday with Hahn and Hellmeister again emerging fastest in the afternoon.
Hahn took 12th spot on the starting grid and second in the Pro-Am class in Q1. Hahn gained several places at the start and moved up to ninth battling with several cars. However, a late torrential rain, with Hellmeister at the wheel of the Drivex-run car, ruined the hard work and the Brazilian duo took the checkered flag in sixth place in class.
On Sunday, Hellmeister qualified seventh on the starting grid and second in the Pro-Am class. Hellmeister ran in the top-7 for his entire stint even moving up to second overall during the pit window. When Hellmeister handed over to Hahn, the Bronze-categorized driver rejoined second with his sights on the class leader. Soon, Hahn moved into the lead. With a solid 30-second gap, he took no risks and brought the car home to secure the race win.
Hahn currently lies 3rd in the Drivers’ standings on 22 points.
Round 3 of the 2018 season will take place at Spa-Francorchamps on 9-10 June.
