DXDT RACING EXPECTS STRONG WEEKEND AT ROAD AMERICA

The mid-summer season break is officially over for all SRO America series, and this weekend, the three championships head to Road America for a weekend of action-packed racing. DXDT Racing is back in full force with their five-car operation, ready to continue the championship fights into the second half of the season. Three doubleheaders and one standalone event remain, turning up the heat on every lap remaining for the rest of the 2021 championships.

A fan-favourite circuit for teams, drivers, and fans, the entire event will be filled with family fun activities as well as non-stop racing action. Beginning on Thursday at 5:00 PM CT, a parade of GT cars will leave Road America and head to downtown Elkhart Lake for the official Welcome Party at Siebkens Resort, open to all. Fans will be able to mingle with drivers and teams as they admire each of the race cars parked on display, also enjoying local food and live entertainment.

Continuing the fan activation at the event, the team will hold a garage tour, open to the public, on Sunday, August 19 at 10:00 AM, allowing fans to meet some of the drivers and get an up-close look into the successful operation.

GT World Challenge America

In the headlining series, momentum is on the side of the most recent race winners, the pairing of Erin Vogel and Michael Cooper in the No. 19 Mercedes AMG GT3. The duo and their pit crew pushed through in a chaotic race one at VIRginia International Raceway to execute a flawless performance, netting them their first podium and win as a team. The win also catapulted the pair up to third in the championship standings. With two wins so far this year, the No. 04 Mercedes AMG GT3 of George Kurtz and Colin Braun will be a challenger to watch as the CrowdStrike Racing drivers fight from second place in the Pro/Am championship points standing. The pair won at Road America last year and also earned an additional podium finish the same weekend. Though they were the first DXDT team to land on the podium in 2021, the No. 63 Mercedes pairing of David Askew and Ryan Dalziel is still hungry for that first win. Though they missed the first of two races at VIRginia International Raceway, the team is still very much in the championship battle and has strong chances to follow up their 2020 double-podium weekend with a repeat performance.

All three cars participated in a successful test last week at Road America, dubbed the National Park of Speed. With DXDT Racing’s comprehensive testing program, the two-day run will pay dividends to the remaining races of the season as the second half kicks into full gear this weekend. With all three cars in the top-five battle for the points, DXDT has a strong foothold in the contention for the championship title.

DRIVER QUOTES

It’s always great to get back to Road America! Coming off of Nashville a few weeks ago where the fans were out in droves, I’m really looking for more of the same this weekend. It seems like there is a lot of pent-up demand for high revving motors and burning rubber! Road America fans have a legendary passion for motorsports and who can pass up the equally legendary egg-brat? In all seriousness, last week DXDT had a great test with all the cars, and we are ready to go after the long break.

Ryan Dalziel

I feel like it’s been forever since we last raced our DXDT Racing Mercedes AMG so to say I’m excited to get back to work would be an understatement. Road America is a great track not just for the AMG but me. We had a pole last year and I hope we can back that up this year with a win.

Colin Braun

I feel like the entire CrowdStrike Racing operation performs well at Road America. Winning there with George last year was a big highlight of our season. This is one of my favorite tracks, as well as George’s, so that always helps you have the right mindset entering the weekend. Winning the IMSA race a few weeks ago in the CrowdStrike LMP3 car has me motivated to continue that streak. I know we will work hard to deliver good results and stay in the championship hunt. We had a great test and George’s pace was really good, I am excited!

Erin Vogel

I think we’re all excited to get back to racing after a few months off. The team has been working hard at the shop to go through the cars at this halfway point in the season to make sure they’re all in top shape. The team had a successful test at Road America in early August. Road America is another personal favorite, as much for the atmosphere the fans bring as for the track itself. I’m looking forward to a great weekend.

Michael Cooper

We’re lucky to be able to compete at a number of great tracks such as Road America. It will be nice to come back from the summer break with some momentum on our side from our victory at the last round of the championship. After a solid test, I’m looking forward to getting back to racing with Erin and DXDT this coming weekend.

GT America

The summer break has not been quite as long for the GT America competitors, having participated in the inaugural Music City Grand Prix earlier in the month in Nashville, Tennessee. DXDT earned three top-five finishes between the SRO3 and Masters classes, putting the team in third for the championship standings. George Kurtz, who is second in the driver standings, will be the sole GT America competitor this weekend, as CJ Moses will focus on business commitments until the season finale weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
