Drivex continued its podium streak in the International GT Open and, after its rostrum finishes at Spa-Francorchamps and Paul Ricard HTTT, Marcelo Hahn and Alan Hellmeister put it another strong performance to achieve valuable points in his Drivex-run Mercedes AMG GT3. The GT3 machinery entered by Drivex played a key role facing a strong field of international GT stars.

On Friday, Hahn and Hellmeister made significant progress after two free practice sessions. They managed to improve their lap times and after their 1:46.386 in FP1, they clocked a time of 1:45.191 in FP2.

On Saturday morning, Hahn took qualifying duties in Q1 and set a lap of 1:46.100, which was 9-th fastest in Pro-am class. Race 1 proved to be a demanding experience as Drivex had a big handicap from Le Castellet with one win and a third place to their name. After the 70-minute race, Hellmeister brought a 7th place finish in class after a good race start performed by Hahn.

On Sunday, with less time handicap than the previous day, Drivex was eying another podium. In the morning, Hellmeister took 6th spot on the starting grid. In the 60-minute race, Hellmeister gained two places at the start, running in fourth place during his stint before pitting. Hahn rejoined the race second overall and fought against factory drivers such as Mikkel Mac, Giovanni Venturini, Norbert Siedler or Andrea Fontana. Unfortunately Hahn spun with a few minutes to go but still secured 3rd place in Pro-Am class.

Hahn currently lies third in the Pro-Am class on 33 points, with only a nine point gap to Marco Cioci and Piergiuseppe Perazzini of Ferrari.

The International GT Open will head to Silverstone on 2-3 September.

Miguel Ángel de Castro: “We are pleased with our performance throughout the weekend. We scored our fourth podium of the 2017 season when the GT Open field is stronger than ever. On Saturday it was extremely difficult to step onto the podium with our time handicap but Sunday was far more promising. And we didn’t miss the opportunity. Both Marcelo and Alan drove magnificently and Drivex worked faultless. We have two months ahead of our next event, but it won’t a rest time for us. Our goal is to fight for Pro-Am title and we need to keep working.”
