This time last year, TeamTGM had taken possession of their all-new Mercedes-AMG GT4 mere weeks before. This time around, the team has three wins and a championship under its belt with the platform.

Looking to build on that success in 2019 the championship winning combo of Hugh Plumb and Owen Trinkler returned behind the wheel of the No. 46 Jayne Koskinas Ted Giovanis (JKTG) Foundation / Camp Boggy Creek Mercedes-AMG GT4 while Ted Giovanis and Guy Cosmo paired in the sister No. 4 Mercedes.

After 239 total laps completed over three days, TeamTGM dialed in its dual Mercedes-AMG GT4 efforts in preparation for the Endurance Challenge at Daytona at the end of the month.

From start to finish, progress was made, with Giovanis clocking in his personal best ever lap at Daytona with a lap time of 1:58.222-seconds on lap 21 of 23 during Sunday’s morning practice session.

“This weekend I really got a lot of seat time in and that was a big contributing factor for getting that lap in,” said Giovanis of his fastest time. “As the stint goes on I get better and better and that was when I posted that time. We already talked about what we are going to do when we come back so I will be even faster. It’s about concentration and getting used to certain corners so I feel confident leaving this test.”

The Trinkler and Plumb combo topped the timing sheets during the second practice session of the weekend with Trinkler posting a 1:54.816-second lap time, clearing the rest of the field by two-tenths.

“It’s great to be back and kick off the 2019 season, especially coming back as defending champions,” said Trinkler. “I thought the test went really well and we worked a lot on race runs. I feel like the car is going to be really good when we come back in a few weeks.”

Along with his driving duties in the No. 46 machine, Plumb also spent much of his weekend on the radio coaching Giovanis.

“I’m excited to walk away from the Roar with a lot of new information about the Michelin tires,” said Plumb. “We learned about what it wants and how we can maximize the performance over the long runs. TGM, as usual, feels comfortable that we are going to come back here in a few weeks with the best effort possible.”

The 2019 season kicks off with the four hour Endurance Challenge at Daytona on January 25th.
