Cetilar Racing ended an almost regular 8 Hours of Bahrain as the FIA WEC Championship came this weekend at the turning point of the season. Roberto Lacorte, Giorgio Sernagiotto and Andrea Belicchi crossed the finish line for the fourth time in four races, showing the consistency of the AF Corse-powered #47 Dallara LMP2 car and as a result of the great job done by the team and drivers, despite the difficult condition due to the particular track and the high temperatures.
After Sernagiotto and Belicchi steadily improved their time in the qualifying, Lacorte took the start from the back of the grid to complete the first driving stint. Then he handed over to Belicchi before taking the wheel once more. At this point Lacorte handed over to Belicchi again. The latter had a light contact with another car and pitted to replace the car nose. At 18 pm Lacorte started his last stint, followed again by Belicchi who paid a drive-through penalty due to a pit-stop infringement. Belicchi left the car to Sernagiotto, who completed his first of the two double stints, sharing the wheel with Belicchi. With 68 minutes remaining Sernagiotto pitted due to a puncture. Eventually the Cetilar Racing Dallara finished ninth of the class, after claiming the sixth position at Silverstone and the seventh at Fuji and Shanghai.
A two-month break will follow now, before the Lone Star Le Mans will take place at Austin, Texas, replacing the Saõ Paulo round on 22/23 February. After that, 1000 Miles of Sebring will precede the last two European events, the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and 24 Hours of Le Mans scheduled at the middle of June, with Cetilar Racing team to enter the famous French race for the fourth time in a row. The La Sarthe round will be the last one before the 2020/2021 season that has been unveiled early this weekend together with the good news Monza will host the World Championship for the first time next October.
