Audi customer teams will be back out in force this weekend at two very different race tracks. Audi Sport customer racing Asia driver pool member Adderly Fong will make his debut at rounds five and six of the Thailand Super Series at the Bangsaen Grand Prix beachside street race alongside Daniel Bilski with B-Quik Racing. Phoenix Racing Asia, meanwhile, resumes its Super Taikyu campaign in Japan with its triple Audi R8 LMS GT3 squad in a five-hour endurance race at the challenging mountain-top Autopolis circuit.

In the Thailand Super Series’ showpiece event of the season, Fong will take over from Audi factory driver Rahel Frey, who raced with Bilksi at the Chang International Circuit last month. Fong, the Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup champion in 2013, brings with him plenty of street circuit experience having raced on the Macau Grand Prix Guia Circuit several times, making him ideally placed to provide both the team and Bilski with valuable support. Bilski, the Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup’s Masters Cup champion in 2016 and Amateur Cup champion in 2015, will share driving duties with Hong Kong’s Fong in the B-Quik Audi R8 LMS ultra in the series’ GTM+ class for the 12th running of the popular event.

Fresh from their double podium at Japan’s first 24-hour race in a decade last month, the three-car Phoenix Racing Asia campaign will be back in action in the fourth stop of the 2018 Super Taikyu season. The #83 Phoenix Racing Asia entry lies second in the championship standings as the squad arrives in Autopolis, with the #81 car just 1.5 points behind, an impressive series debut from the Hong Kong-based arm of the legendary European outfit.

This weekend, the driver line-up sees Cup star Jeffrey Lee, Super GT talent André Couto of Macau and reigning Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup champion Alessio Picariello reunited in the #81 Audi R8 LMS GT3 for Sunday’s five-hour endurance race on the 4.673km Autopolis circuit. Hong Kong’s Alex Au teams up with Audi Sport customer racing Asia driver pool member Shaun Thong and three-time Cup champion Alex Yoong in the #82 car, while Japan’s Shintaro Kawabata switches to the #83 entry to drive with 2012 Cup champion Marchy Lee, Singapore’s Lim Keong Wee, and Malaysian Melvin Moh.
