Hungary’s “CsuCsu” will make his first motorsport start outside Europe this weekend at Trois-Riveres, round eighth of the FIA World Rallycross Championship in Canada.

The Kia Rio driver almost wasn’t able to start the event, due to his luggage being lost on route, but thanks to being loaned a race suit and helmet by Manfred Stohl’s STARD team, “CsuCsu” will race this weekend. “It’s a nightmare because my baggage is completely lost and I spent two days trying to get the bag, but nobody knows where it is. It included my helmet, racing suit, the laptop with the data on and everything. We asked if any of the teams had anything that I could borrow, and within five minutes Manfred said “we have some,” so it’s really good that I can race. Everybody in the paddock is really good,” explained the Hungarian, who isn’t alone in having luggage problems at a World RX event. Two years ago, Norway’s Andreas Bakkerud was forced to borrow a number of drivers’ space equipment to be able to drive in Canada.

“CsuCsu” finished 16th in round one of World RX in Barcelona, and is targeting a second points finish in Canada, with an eye on making it into the semi-finals. We’ve been going better and better, faster and faster. Every time we race we change something on the car and every time I look at my driving and speak with Gigi (Galli) about how to do things better. This is another new track, but I think it could be good because it has some narrow parts, where there are some concrete walls. I come from rallying where there was also sometimes trees and everything right next to the road. I hope to be in the top 16 but maybe I can make it into the semi-finals, that is my goal for this season.”
