American driver will join M2 Competition for five weekend, fifteen race series

American driver JM Correa will get back on track for the next five weekends as he competes in the Castrol Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand. During the five weekend, fifteen race program, Correa will join the M2 Competition race team as he and his GP3 engineer continue to build a foundation for the future. With the goal to gain more experience, Correa, as any racer, has his sights set firmly on the top step of the podium.

“I am continuing my training and building experience in this type of racing,” explained Correa. “In the GP3 program, testing is very limited, most of the time with only one session per race weekend. It was difficult to learn a new car and a new circuit in such short time so I think it is important to have the ability to get up to speed quicker.”

Correa continued, “The F3 car that is used in New Zealand is a carbon fiber Tatuus produced car weighing only 550 kilograms. With an 1800cc Toyota engine producing 215 horsepower, it is a big step up from the F4 car. The series has one engine builder and a sealed engine program that forces drivers, engineers and teams to make the most of their setup changes and driving capabilities.”

M2 Competition is one of the leading teams in the Castrol Toyota Racing Series having claimed multiple team and driver championships in the past. Founded in 2000, the elite level program has worked hard to provide the best possible training program for drivers connecting them with professional mechanics and talented engineers that form a great chemistry amongst the complete race team.

“I am excited to get on track,” added the American driver. “In racing, the off seasons are always the toughest but I had a good holiday break and it is now time to get back to work.”
