For the first time this season, Dale Coyne Racing rookie and driver of the #19 Paysafe Car, Zachary Claman De Melo, will be racing at a track at which he has prior experience aboard an Indy car, having had a successful test at the Barber Motorsports Park with the team in March.

While that test was cut short due to rain, the young Canadian still registered the fifth fastest time of the IndyCar Open Test right behind his teammate Sebastien Bourdais.

Claman De Melo is looking to build on that successful test this weekend, as he seeks to redeem himself at the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama following a tough weekend at the Grand Prix of Long Beach last week.

“We had a good test at Barber last month aboard the Paysafe car and I’m really looking forward to the race this weekend,” said Claman De Melo. “Obviously, the conditions will likely be different from when we tested, but it was an encouraging test. I’m hoping to make up for the tough race weekend we had at Long Beach. The #19 Paysafe crew deserves a good result for all the hard work they’ve been putting in. Hopefully I can give it to them at Barber Motorsports Park.”

Claman De Melo, who is making his fourth Verizon IndyCar Series start this weekend, previously competed at the 2.3-mile, 17-Turn road course in Indy Lights the last two seasons, scoring three Top 10 finishes in four races which included two fifth place finishes.

Practice gets underway on Friday, April 20 with two practice sessions, with qualifying taking place on Saturday, April 21 at 3:05pm local time. Fans can watch live qualifying on NBCSN starting at 4pm ET.

The fourth round of the season goes green on Sunday, April 22 at 2:42pm local time and will be broadcast live on NBCSN from 3pm ET. The race will also be broadcast live on the Advance Auto Parts IndyCar Radio Network, including SIRIUS/XM 209/214.

All practice sessions will be streamed live on racecontrol.indycar.com.
