The private collection of seven-time Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher will be displayed in April 2018 in Cologne, Germany.

The former Butzweilerhof Airport will host an exhibition comprising cars from Schumacher’s career from his earliest karts to the 2012 Mercedes F1 W03, his final drive for Mercedes.

The permanent collection is being constructed at the moment and it will be called “Motorworld Cologne” when it opens in April next year. Also on display will be Schumacher’s trophies, racing suits and other mementos from his career spanning from 1984 – when he won the German Junior Karting championship – to his final F1 year in 2012.

During that time, Schumacher picked up 91 wins and 155 podiums from 306 grands prix.

An exhibition in collaboration with Schumacher’s long-time sponsor Deutsche Vermögensberatung titled “Michael Schumacher — Record-holding World Champion. 20 Years of Partnership with Deutsche Vermögensberatung” is open to the public in Marburg, Germany right now.

The German finance company also supported his son Mick Schumacher in Formula 4.

That exhibition, also containing cars from Schumacher’s career, will remain open alongside the Cologne display. Schumacher’s family endorses and helps maintain both of those exhibits.

His family also runs a non-profit organisation: The Keep Fighting initiative. Keep Fighting aims to spread ‘positive energy’ after Schumacher’s skiing accident in December 2013 which left him with serious head injuries, greatly reducing his quality of life.

As well as the exhibitions, Keep Fighting also sets up football matches for charity and awards those who triumph through adversity. www.keepfighting.ms
