The two Porsche Carrera Cup GB Friday practice sessions were affected by changeable conditions that required slick and wet tyres on both occasions. It was Dan Cammish (Redline Racing) who emerged fastest overall after topping the first session, but a flying final lap from championship leader and Porsche GB 2016 / 2017 Scholar Charlie Eastwood (Redline Racing) was unmatched in the second. Dino Zamparelli (JTR), equal on points with Eastwood, ultimately placed eighth overall after topping the timesheets on several occasions.

In Pro-Am1, championship leader Alex Martin (Team Parker Racing) showed he had the legs of Karl Leonard (Team Parker Racing) in the damp conditions, something of a speciality for the Irish driver. Despite an off in the first session, Leonard returned in the second to place just behind the flying Martin, while Justin Sherwood (Team Parker Racing) claimed third.

Peter Kyle-Henney (IN2 Racing) started his weekend and title fight in determined form, fresh from setting numerous category records over the 2017 season. The 18-time winner emerged fastest from both sessions, his nearest challenger the resurgent Rupert Martin (Team Parker Racing). Rookie David Fairbrother (Slidesports) once again showed his wet weather form in third.

Changeable conditions and varied tyre strategies reduced the Friday practice sessions inconclusive, as if a repeat of 2016 when Eastwood scored his first pole position in the wet that became a first victory. Conditions, traffic and weather will all influence what could prove the most exciting – and critical – qualifying session of 2017.

Qualifying for rounds fourteen and fifteen will take place on Saturday 30 September between 13.20 and 13.50.
