It was an extremely lively and close free practice day at Monza this Friday, which ended with 14 cars within one second in the sheet of combined lap times. Local hero and former F.1 star Tonio Liuzzi (FFF Racing Lambo) was the fastest man on the track, posting a time of 1.48.751 in session 2, beating by 77 thousandths the SPS Automotive Mercedes of tom Onslow-Cole and by 148 thousandths the fastest car in session 1, the Imperiale Racing Lambo of Raffaele Giammaria.
Followed Albert Costa (Emil Frey Lexus), the Imperiale Racing Lambos of Postiglione and Mapelli, the Ratón Huracán of Liberati, and the Garage 59 McLarens of Tappy and Ledogar.
In the Am class, Gabriele Lancieri (who is back to the GT Open after some years, subbing for Andrea Caldarelli on the SF Racing Ferrari) was fastest in Am, while the two Sports&You Mercedes topped the rankings in the session for Bronze drivers.
The only incident was the accident of the Drivex Mercedes in session 2, with slight damage in the front and the rear, while the only no-show is the Lechner Racing Mercedes of Plachutta-Jäger, following a major crash while testing here a few days ago.
