Cup Crew Chiefs Fined; Stockman Suspended
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Two Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series teams were penalized for lug-nut infractions that occurred Sunday at Dover Int’l Speedway, while Danny Stockman Jr., crew chief for XFINITY Series driver Daniel Hemric, has been suspended for four races.
Erik Jones’ Furniture Row No. 77 and the Stewart-Haas Racing Ford team for Clint Bowyer were each sited for unsecured lug nuts following the Apache Warrior 400. Crew chiefs Chris Gayle (Jones) and Mike Bugarewicz (Bowyer) were each fined $10,000.
Stockman, car chief Clint Almquist and engineer Luke Mason were all suspended through Nov. 14 after weight ballast fell out of the No. 21 Richard Childress Racing team during practice last Friday at Dover.
In addition, XFINITY Series crew chiefs Chris Gabehart, who calls the shots on the Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota driven by Eric Jones and Chad Norris, who works on Brennan Poole’s Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet, were each fined $5,000 for unsecured lug nuts.
Carl Joiner, crew chief for Matt Crafton in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, was fined $2,500 after unsecured lug nuts were found on Crafton’s No. 88 following Saturday’s race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
