We’ve come to the end of another season of motorsport at Silverstone. As always its been a very good year, and we’ve had the chance to photograph both National and International events. With so many pictures not used in previous photo shoots, I though this would be a good opportunity to do a best of the rest. Even then it wasn’t easy to choose which ones to use. We hope you like the pictures.
Porsche has paid tribute to the worldwide achievements of its teams and drivers over the 2018 season at its Night of Champions motorsport gala in Weissach. On this occasion, the Board announced the intense continuation of its worldwide GT activities as well as a number of innovations.
The BMW Motorsport programme for the 2019 season will be even more international than in recent years. As well as the four works involvements in the DTM, FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IMSA Series) and ABB FIA Formula E Championship, the BMW M6 GT3 will also have an extensive race programme. Besides the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring (GER) and the FIA GT World Cup in Macau (CHN), the planned starts in the Intercontinental GT Challenge are further international highlights. BMW M Motorsport’s commitment to customer racing and the BMW Motorsport Junior programme will continue.
The first of the two PROsport Performance driver pairings for the ADAC GT Masters 2019 has been confirmed: Aston Martin works driver Maxime Martin (32, BEL) and ex-champion Daniel Keilwitz (29, GER) will be competing for Christoph Esser’s team in one of two Aston Martin Vantage GT3s. As official race partner of Aston Martin Racing, PROsport Performance will be fielding two new Aston Martin Vantage GT3s in the ADAC GT Masters as well as two Aston Martin Vantage GT4s in the new ADAC GT4 Germany. The opening weekend of the 2019 ADAC GT Masters (27th – 29th April) will be hosted by Motorsport Arena Oschersleben.
Acura Team Penske announced today that IndyCar Series championship contender and 2016 Indianapolis 500 winner Alexander Rossi will join the team for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship endurance events at the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring. Rossi, a five-time race winner in the IndyCar Series, will share the No. 7 Acura ARX-05 Daytona Prototype International (Dpi) with fulltime Acura Team Penske drivers Helio Castroneves and Ricky Taylor.
The early details of the 2019 event include a celebration of 50 years of Formula Ford at the Wiltshire track, an all-Alfa Romeo race and displays to mark 60 years of Marcos.
Formulated to recreate the spirit of 1950s clubman motorsport, Equipe Pre ‘63 certainly captured the imagination of drivers and spectators alike this year – its inaugural season. It features a wide spread of marques including Aston Martin, Austin-Healey, Jaguar, Lotus, MG and Morgan, and among the many immaculately-prepared cars already to contest the series are a number of genuine ex-works examples. In addition to the Silverstone and Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuits, 2019 competitors will do battle at the perennially popular UK club venues of Donington, Oulton Park and Snetterton.
The 2019 Radical Australia Cup calendar has been unveiled with an exciting six round championship to highlight the eleventh season of the popular one-make prototype Series that just recently saw a change in management along with the signing of a new Category Management Agreement with the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport.
Motorsport-wise 2018 was a multifaceted year for Nova Race: the Italian outfit took part to its domestic GT series as well as to the most appealing rounds of Michelin Le Mans Cup and Creventic 24h Series, jockeying amid categories as different a LMP3, GT3 and GT4. As 2019 looms, the team will go back to its origins, focusing mainly on GT4 and its fleet of G55 Ginettas, albeit the Audi R8 LMS Ultra and the LMP3 may again appear in hand-picked meetings. Once the main race programme choice was made, the team executives started to feel the relentless ‘gravity pull’ of the best GT4 showcases: the European championship and France’s FFSA GT, both run by Stefan Ratel’s SRO organization.
Sant’Agata Bolognese 3 December 2018 – For the 2019 season, Lamborghini Squadra Corse will have a new factory driver. Dennis Lind from Denmark will be an official Lamborghini driver, along with Mirko Bortolotti, Andrea Caldarelli, Marco Mapelli, Giovanni Venturini, and new acquisitions Phil Keen and Franck Perera.
Bentley Motorsport will enter both the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup and Intercontinental GT Challenge in 2019 with a four-car Pro-class entry in the season’s longest and largest race, 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.
BWT Mücke Motorsport aim to move mountains in the desert! The illustrious Berlin-based team are going to contest the famous 24-Hours of Dubai for a second time. The team will fight for a top result in their kfzteile24 Audi R8 LMS at Dubai’s Autodrome with a crack squad of drivers at the wheel of their orange racing car – Audi Sport’s Markus Winkelhock, Ford works driver Stefan Mücke plus Mike David Ortmann, Ricardo Feller and Andreas Weishaupt (10th – 12th January 2019).
