PROMISING RACE ENDS EARLY FOR JR III RACING AT ROAD AMERICA

Making its first-ever entry in the top-flight IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IWSC), JR III Racing arrived to Road America well prepared—having tested at the track,  a driving roster comprised of podium-winning drivers and a full crew on hand to support the team debut.  Mid-Ohio podium finishers of Terry Olson and Mike Skeen paired up behind the wheel of the No. 30 Jr III Racing Ligier JS P320 as the Charlotte-based team made another progressive step with its WeatherTech debut this weekend.

WRIGHT MOTORSPORTS TAKES THIRD PLACE AT ROAD AMERICA

Wright Motorsports picked up several podium finishes on Saturday and Sunday during their multi-city race weekend in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, and Nashville, Tennessee. Patrick Long and Trent Hindman earned their first podium together as a pair, following their second-place finish at the Twelve Hours of Sebring with Jan Heylen. In the Porsche Carrera Cup North America, John Goetz earned a third-place finish on Sunday in Wisconsin, followed by Charlie Luck securing a double-podium weekend on the streets of Nashville in the Music City Grand Prix.

ERA MOTORSPORTS DOMINATES TO WIN ROAD AMERICA

Six months since their victory at the Rolex 24 victory at Daytona, Era Motorsport has returned to victory circle with top honours this weekend at Road America, winning the IMSA SportsCar Weekend in the LMP2 class. The team, originally slated to only run the 2021 North American Endurance Cup decided last minute to join the Road America race weekend to prepare for this month’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, and after an impressive start, took the lead with a large margin over the LMP2 field.

KELVIN VAN DER LINDE EXTENDS LEAD IN THE DTM

In the 2021 DTM, Audi achieved the second one-two with the R8 LMS after the opening success at Monza: Kelvin van der Linde won at the third race weekend at Zolder ahead of Mike Rockenfeller and extended his lead in the standings to 21 points. In Nashville, Audi customer teams in the GT America race series clinched a total of three victories with their GT3, GT2 and GT4 sports cars from Germany.

MIXED DTM WEEKEND FOR MERCEDES-AMG TEAM MUCKE MOTORSPORT AND MAXIMILIAN BUHK

The results of the Mercedes-AMG Team Mücke Motorsport on the traditional circuit in Zolder, Belgium, for the third DTM weekend are mixed. After bad luck in Saturday’s race, Maximilian Buhk was able to make up ground on Sunday with the #18 Mercedes-AMG GT 3, which is equipped with the Space Drive steer-by-wire system and does not require any mechanical connection at all between the steering unit and the steering gearbox, and finished in 11th place, narrowly missing out on the points classification. The track in Zolder is regarded as a demanding “old school” track that does not forgive any mistakes.

MERCEDES-AMG MOTORSPORT SECURES ANOTHER DTM PODIUM AT ZOLDER

Mercedes-AMG Motorsport also secured a podium finish in the third event of the DTM season at Zolder in Belgium. Maximilian Götz (GER), driving for Mercedes-AMG Team HRT, secured second place in race two of the weekend thanks to a clever pit stop strategy. In the Saturday race, Götz’s teammate Vincent Abril (MCO) had contributed the best result by finishing fourth. With a total of six top ten results at the demanding circuit, Mercedes-AMG defended its lead in the manufacturers’ standings of the series.
