PORSCHE CUSTOMER TEAMS TO TACKLE LE MANS FROM POLE POSITION IN BOTH GT CLASSES

Porsche customer teams have scored the perfect result in the Hyperpole of the 24 Hours of Le Mans: Dries Vanthoor turned a sensational lap in 3:46.882 minutes on Thursday evening and planted his Porsche 911 RSR fielded by HubAuto Racing on pole position in the hotly contested GTE-Pro class. The Belgian, who is the brother of the Porsche works driver Laurens Vanthoor, came out on top against strong opposition from all works teams in the cutthroat hunt for top times. In the GTE-Am category, 911 racing cars will take up the race on Saturday at 4:00 pm from the first three grid spots. At the wheel of Dempsey-Proton Racing’s No. 88 entry, Porsche Young Professional Julian Andlauer from France was over half a second faster than Benjamin Barker in the identical car of GR Racing and Matteo Cairoli in Project 1’s No. 56 vehicle.

THE GERMAN GT CHAMPIONSHIP TO HOLD FINALE AT THE NURBUGRING

The title in the German GT Championship will be decided in the Eifel region; the Nürburgring is set to host a final weekend of the ADAC GT Masters for the first time. The races that were unable to be held at the beginning of August as planned due to the flood disaster in the region have been rescheduled for 5 to 7 November. The champions of the ADAC GT4 Germany, ADAC Formula 4 and ADAC TCR Germany will also be decided in the Eifel region as part of the supporting programme of the ADAC GT Masters. All tickets already purchased for the ADAC GT Masters at the Nürburgring remain valid for the new date and do not need to be exchanged.

SIX PORSCHE 911 RSR QUALIFY FOR THE HYPERPOLE AT LE MANS

In todays Hyperpole, six Porsche 911 RSR in the GTE-Pro and GTE-Am classes get the chance to fight for the top grid spots for the Le Mans 24-hour race. The works team with drivers Kévin Estre from France and Italy’s Gianmaria Bruni wrapped up the 60-minute qualifying session on Wednesday evening in positions three and six in the fiercely contested GTE-Pro category. The Belgian Dries Vanthoor also achieved a spot in the top six with the 911 fielded by the HubAuto Racing customer squad and thus gained entry into the shootout on Thursday evening (19 August, from 9:30 pm CEST). In the GTE-Am class, the identical vehicles campaigned by Dempsey-Proton Racing, GR Racing and Project 1 finished first, second and fifth.

ERA MOTORSPORT RETURNS TO LE MANS WITH IDEC SPORT RACING

This week, the 89th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans takes place, and after a last-minute driver swap and abbreviated test day, the team behind the No. 17 IDEC SPORT / Era Motorsport Oreca rides into the famed event with both excitement and trepidation. Following a shoulder injury, Era Motorsport team owner and driver Kyle Tilley will sit out this year’s race and will be replaced by French racing driver Thomas Laurent.

CETILAR RACING SWITCHES TO 24 HOURS OF LE MANS MODE

Cetilar Racing is all set for season’s big event as it will take part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the fifth time consecutively, the first fielding the AF Corse run #47 Ferrari 488 GTE shared by Roberto Lacorte, Giorgio Sernagiotto and Antonio Fuoco. Taking a podium finish at the Spa opener and the 8 Hours of Portimão victory, the trio faces the fourth out of six FIA WEC rounds leading the LMGTE Am class.

PORSCHE CONCLUDES LE MANS PREPARATIONS WITH BEST TIME IN BOTH GTE CLASSES

After the pre-test at the Circuit des 24 Heures, Porsche heads to the 24-hour race feeling optimistic. With a lap time of 3:52.901 minutes, the ca. 515 PS 911 RSR driven by Kévin Estre (France), Neel Jani (Switzerland) and Michael Christensen (Denmark) set the best time in the GTE-Pro class during this morning’s session. The No. 91 sister car shared by the works driver trio Gianmaria Bruni (Italy), Richard Lietz (Austria) and Fréderic Makowiecki (France) concluded the two sessions in second with 3:52.904 minutes – a time almost identical to their brand colleagues’. The two Porsche customer teams WeatherTech Racing and Hub Auto Racing wrapped up the day in third and sixth place out of the eight participants in this category. The WeatherTech car crewed by the Belgian works driver Laurens Vanthoor, Cooper MacNeil (USA) and Earl Bamber (New Zealand) finished the afternoon session as the fastest in the Pro category.

UNITED AUTOSPORTS HEAD TO LE MANS WITH EXPERIENCED SUPERSTARS AND EXCITING DEBUTANTS IN THREE-CAR LINE UP

United Autosports are preparing for the 2021 Le Mans 24 Hours with their three-car entry this coming weekend (21-22 August), which includes a mixture of previous Le Mans race winning superstars, Phil Hanson, Filipe Albuquerque, Paul Di Resta and Alex Lynn, 2020 podium finisher Nico Jamin and exciting Le Mans debutants Fabio Scherer, Wayne Boyd, Manuel Maldonado and Jonathan Aberdein.

Porsche Carrera Cup GB – the fastest single marque GT racing championship in the UK – headed north for its annual trip to Knockhill in Scotland. The rollercoaster 1.2-mile circuit is a firm favourite with drivers and fans alike as it frequently delivers thrilling racing. In line with the latest Scottish government guidance Knockhill welcomed a full capacity crowd to the TOCA weekend who witnessed two exciting Porsche races.
