SUCCESSFUL END TO THE GT OPEN SEASON FOR LAMBORGHINI

Two victories and two titles. The International GT Open season has been successfully completed for Lamborghini. Andrea Rizzoli and Damiano Fioravanti took the first GT Open victory of the year for the #12 Ombra Racing Lamborghini at the end of race 1; #25 Imperiale Racing duo, Riccardo Agostini and Rik Breukers, grabbed race 2 win. The second win of the weekend for Lamborghini also sanctioned the success of Imperiale Racing in the Teams’ standings.

MIKKEL MAC IS 2018 GT OPEN CHAMPION

Mikkel Mac is the 2018 International GT Open Champion! A second, together with Alessandro Pier Guidi, was enough for the Dane of the Luzich Racing Ferrari, to secure the crown, beating Fran Rueda-Andrés Saravia (Teo Martín BMW), who finished fourth today. At the end of a fantastic season, Mac was clearly happy: “It’s a fantastic day, where we finished a job well done throughout the season, and I really want to share the success with the entire Luzich team, my team mates Pier Guidi and Cioci, because it’s the title of all of us”.

BMW DRIVERS CELEBRATE OVERALL WIN IN THE VLN

BMW Hat-trick in the VLN: Christopher Rink, Danny Brink and Phillipp Leisen (all GER) have secured overall victory in the VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring (GER) with the Pixum Team Adrenalin Motorsport #490 BMW 325i. This means that a BMW car has topped the overall standings for the third consecutive time, as the winner from the last two seasons had driven a BMW M235i Racing. It marks the 16th title for BMW. The trio rounded off a great season, securing the V4 class victory in the final race of the season at the Nordschleife. “I can still hardly believe what we have achieved,” said Rink after the race had finished. Brink added: “that’s a huge relief, especially after everything that happened after the eighth race.” The BMW 325i had been disqualified due to a technical protest after the eighth race. The team lodged an appeal against this decision and the DMSB appeal court then found in their favour. “We were under a lot of pressure and we are delighted that we have finally been able to claim the title,” said Leisen.

KEEPER TOM’S LC500 COMES FROM BEHIND TO WIN ITS FIRST SUPER GT RACE OF THE SEASON

The AUTOPOLIS 300km Race, Round 7 of the 2018 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series, was held at the AUTOPOLIS Circuit (one lap 4,674 m x 65 laps) in Oita Prefecture on October 21. In races marked by hot contests all around the track, the reigning GT500 class champion team, No. 1 KeePer TOM’S LC500 (Ryo Hirakawa/Nick Cassidy), came from behind to win its first race of the season. In the GT300 class, the No. 96 K-tunes RC F GT3 (Morio Nitta/Yuichi Nakayama) came from 10th position on the starting grid to take the win.

MAIDEN WIN OF THE GT OPEN SEASON FOR LAMBORGHINI THANKS TO OMBRA RACING AT BARCELONA

Lamborghini took at last its first win of the season, as the Huracán of Ombra Racing, entrusted to Damiano Fioravanti and Andrea Rizzoli won Race 1 at Barcelona, benefitting from the 5-second penalty (for incorrect position at the start) inflicted to the car crossing the line in first, the other Huracán of Imperiale Racing of Breukers-Agostini. Giovanni Venturini-Jeroen Mul, the leading pair of Imperiale, took second, but are definitely out of the race for the title.

ARTA NSX-GT WINS ITS SECOND SUPER GT POLE OF THE SEASON

The official qualifying for the AUTOPOLIS GT 300 km, Round 7 of the 2018 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series, was held at the AUTOPOLIS circuit (lap = 4,674 m) in Oita Pref. on October 20. In the GT500 class, the No. 8 ARTA NSX-GT driven by Tomoki Nojiri and Takuya Izawa ran a course record to win pole position for the second time this season following the one at Round 3 at Suzuka. In the GT300 class, the AUTOPOLIS pole position went to the No. 25 VivaC 86 MC driven by Takamitsu Matsui and Sho Tsuboi for the second consecutive year.

BMW I ANDRETTI MOTORSPORT LEADS THE WAY AGAIN ON FINAL DAY OF VALENCIA TESTING

An intense week draws to a successful close. As on Tuesday and Wednesday, the fastest time on the third, and final, day of testing in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship went to a BMW i Andretti Motorsport driver. Alexander Sims (GBR), at the wheel of the #27 BMW iFE.18, was the fastest of all drivers at Valencia (ESP) on Friday, setting a time of 1:17.402 minutes. His team-mate António Félix da Costa (POR) remained the fastest driver of the test after setting a time of 1:16.977 on Wednesday. Over the course of the three test days at “Circuit Ricardo Tormo”, the BMW i Andretti Motorsport duo completed a total of 435 laps.

33-CAR STRONG ENTRY LIST FOR SECOND EDITION OFF LAGUNA SECA RACEWAY CALIFORNIA 8 HOURS

The 2018 Intercontinental GT Challenge will have its final round at the Laguna Seca Raceway California 8 Hours. The longest race on the Monterey peninsula will not only see the contenders in the only global GT3 championship vie for the 2018 trophies, there will also be plenty of GT4 and TCR cars fighting for class honours. In total no fewer than 33 cars will be on the grid on the morning of Sunday October 28th.

SEASON FINALE AT LAGUNA SECA, CALIFORNIA: THREE AUDI R8 LMS WITH UNIQUE LIVERIES

Audi will offer fans not just one but several treats at the Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC) finale in California from October 26 to 28: Besides the GT3 model, the GT4 version of the Audi R8 LMS and the Audi RS 3 LMS TCR race car will be on the grid at Laguna Seca for the California 8 Hours. In addition, the audience can look forward to a visual surprise: For the first time, the liveries of the three Audi GT3 sports cars will complement each other to create a total picture in the style of the American flag.

The result may be nothing to write home about, but with Aston Martin Racing we had a positive weekend regarding our performance and pace in the 6 Hours of Fuji, the latest round of the FIA World Endurance Championship. The Aston Martin Vantage GTE continues to take a step forward, and it was only bad luck with safety cars that ruined our strategy and kept Maxime Martin and I down in an eventual ninth place.
