Lamborghini Super Trofeo: 2019 calendars and news

Sant’Agata Bolognese/Rome, 15 November 2018 – The 2019 season of Lamborghini Super Trofeo, the one-make championship that once again next year will run on three different continents, kicks off in February in Dubai. The new season brings lots of news, with a new format for the Middle East and new circuits to enrich the calendars of the Super Trofeo Asia, Europe and North America. 

A SUCCESSFUL SEASON FOR THE BMW M6 GT3 DRAWS TO A CLOSE ON THE STREETS OF MACAU

The 2018 season draws to a close for the BMW M6 GT3 with a genuine highlight this weekend, as BMW Team Schnitzer lines up at the FIA GT World Cup, which forms part of the Macau Grand Prix (CHN). BMW works driver Augusto Farfus (BRA) will be at the wheel of the number 42 car. The Brazilian and the team from Freilassing (GER) will be supported by Shell, Premium Technology Partner of BMW M Motorsport, at the iconic Guia Circuit. It is also set to be a special race weekend for team principal Charly Lamm (GER): he will take responsibility for the BMW M6 GT3 from the pit wall for the final time.

PORSCHE SETS SIGHTS ON SCORING ANOTHER SUCCESS IN CHINA

The Porsche GT Team tackles round five of the 2018/2019 FIA WEC Super Season with great confidence. At the six-hour race in Shanghai (China) on 18 November, the factory squad from Weissach aims to notch up another success with two ca. 510 hp 911 RSR. Thanks to a victory at the last race in Fuji (Japan) to conclude the first half of the season, Porsche has consolidated its lead in the GTE-Pro class of the World Sports Car Championship. Porsche is now eager to extend this advantage over the competition from Ferrari, BMW, Aston Martin and Ford at the last race of the 2018 year. Moreover, three customer teams fight for points towards the GTE-Am class with four additional Porsche 911 RSR. 

ARTA NSX-GT TAKES SECOND WIN OF THE SUPER GT SEASON

The MOTEGI GT 250km RACE GRAND FINAL, Round 8 of the 2018 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series, was held at the Motegi Twin Ring circuit (lap = 4,801 m x 53 laps) in Tochigi Pref. on November 11 (Sun.). In the GT500 class, the pole-starting No. 8 ARTA NSX-GT driven by Tomoki Nojiri and Takuya Izawa won its second race of the season, while the season championship title went to the No. 100 RAYBRIG NSX-GT (Naoki Yamamoto/Jenson Button) when they finished the race in 3rd place. In the GT300 class race, the No. 65 LEON CVSTOS AMG driven by Haruki Kurosawa and Naoya Gamou won their first victory of the season that also gave them a dramatic come-from-behind GT300 class season title win.

ARTA NSX-GT WINS SUPER GT POLE POSITION AT MOTEGI

The official qualifying for the MOTEGI GT 250km RACE GRAND FINAL, Round 8 of the 2018 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series, was held at the Motegi Twin Ring Circuit in Tochigi Prefecture on November 10 (Sat.). In the GT500 class, the No. 8 ARTA NSX-GT driven by Tomoki Nojiri and Takuya Izawa won pole position for the third time this season. Also the season ranking leader, the No. 100 RAYBRIG NSX-GT (Naoki Yamamoto/Jenson Button) qualified 2nd to put themselves in good position to go for a first season title. In the GT300 class, the class pole position went to the No. 88 MANEPA LAMBORGHINI GT3 (Kazuki Hiramine/Marco Mapelli). In the race for the season’s class title, the 2nd-ranked No. 65 LEON CVSTOS AMG (Haruki Kurosawa/Naoya Gamou) qualified in 2nd position while the 1st-ranked No. 55 ARTA BMW M6 GT3 (Shinichi Takagi/Sean Walkinshaw) placed 10th.

FOUR PORSCHE 911 GT3 R AT THE WORLD’S TOUGHEST STREET RACE

There will be four Porsche 911 GT3 R at the starting line of the FIA GT World Cup in Macau (China) from 15 to 18 November. The Manthey-Racing team will be using two of the vehicles – each with around 500 hp – driven by Earl Bamber (New Zealand) and Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium). Two-time Le Mans winner Bamber will be joining the race in a car that has been given a particularly special look: an eye-catching red and gold design that’s inspired by the Chinese year of the dog. Two more cars will be prepared by customer team Craft Bamboo Racing, for Porsche Young Professional Mathieu Jaminet (France) and Chinese local hero Darryl O’Young.

ROAD TO DAYTONA: SUCCESSFUL FIRST TEST FOR ALESSANDRO ZANARDI IN THE BMW M8 GTE

BMW works driver Alessandro Zanardi (ITA) has successfully completed his first test in the BMW M8 GTE in preparation for the 24-hour race at Daytona (USA) in January. This week, BMW M Motorsport and Zanardi spent three days testing at Miramas in the south of France. Although rain meant the conditions were not ideal, Zanardi was still able to get plenty of laps under his belt with the BMW M8 GTE. In total, he drove almost 700 kilometres over the course of the three days.
