CHINESE CELEBRITY DRIVER LIU ZEXUAN JOINS THE 2019 AUDI SPORT R8 LMS CUP

Chinese internet sensation Liu Zexuan has joined the Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup’s eighth season to compete in the GT4 Cup. The 30 year-old driver will be aiming to build on his impressive Cup debut in 2018 with Absolute Racing, when he secured back-to-back wins in Shanghai. Liu has become an online celebrity in China, appearing in a number of popular online reality shows, winning himself a legion of fans and followers.

NICOLAI ELGHANAYAN ANNOUNCES 2019 GT4 AMERICA SEASON WITH MARCOPOLO MOTORSPORTS

As sports car racing begins to kick off the 2019 race season across North America, Nicolai Elghanayan has announced his return to the SRO Motorsports GT4 America series, formally the Pirelli World Challenge GTS class. Racing the No. 71 KTM X-Bow with MarcoPolo Motorsports, Elghanayan will run the full sprint season, consisting of eight double header race weekends.

BMW i ANDRETTI MOTORSPORT LOOKING TO BACK UP STRONG PERFORMANCES IN MEXICO

Having started the season with three impressive displays, the BMW i Andretti Motorsport team now travels to the Mexico City E-Prix, with its sights set on challenging for top results with both BMW iFE.18s in round four of this season’s ABB FIA Formula E Championship. The BMW i8 Coupe Safety Car is also set to attract its fair share of attention, as it sports its new design for the first time at the race weekend in Mexico.

STRONG GRID NUMBERS SET TO RISE FOR 2019 12H MUGELLO

Interest continues to grow for the L’autodromo del Mugello’s return to the 24H SERIES calendar. With just a little more than a month to go before the Hankook 12H MUGELLO on 29-30 March, provisional grid numbers for the 2019 European Championship season opener have already surpassed 50, and look set to increase further with entries still available for GT and TCE teams and drivers.

ALESSANDRO ZANARDI: “IT HAS BEEN SIMPLY FANTASTIC ALL THE WAY”

BMW works driver Alessandro Zanardi (ITA) attracted global attention with his start at the 24 Hours of Daytona (USA) in the BMW M8 GTE. The Italian was the focus of reporting all over the world and was the fans’ favourite at Daytona. Run by BMW Team RLL, the #24 BMW M8 GTE that Zanardi shared with John Edwards (USA), Jesse Krohn (FIN) and Chaz Mostert (AUS), had been modified with a special hand-operated braking system by BMW M Motorsport. After several minor set-backs in the race, the quartet came home ninth in the GTLM class. Victory went to the sister car, the #25 BMW M8 GTE, with Connor De Phillippi (USA), Augusto Farfus (BRA), Philipp Eng (AUT) and Colton Herta (USA) at the wheel. In an interview, Zanardi looks back at the “24 Hours of Daytona” project.
