BMW TEAM RLL COMES FOURTH AND SEVENTH IN THE GTLM CLASS AT THE 12 HOURS OF SEBRING

Sebring. The second round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship concluded the ‘BMW M Motorsport Super Weekend’ at Sebring (USA). Following a second-place finish for BMW Team MTEK in the FIA World Endurance Championship’s (WEC) race on Friday, it was BMW Team RLL’s turn to send two BMW M8 GTE cars into action for the 12-hour endurance classic held at Sebring International Raceway. After 330 laps, car #24 crossed the line fourth in the GTLM class. The second BMW M8 GTE finished seventh.

HACKETT TAKES MAIDEN AUSTRALIAN GT VICTORY

Peter Hackett claimed his maiden Australian GT victory at the Australian Grand Prix during race three of the 2019 season-opener, leading home a Mercedes-AMG 1-2-3 having taken title rival Max Twigg late in the race as they came up to lap the ailing Dale Paterson, the pair crossing the line nose to tail with race two winner Kenny Habul third after an outstanding drive from the rear of the field.

VICTORY AT SEBRING: PORSCHE GT TEAM FURTHER EXTENDS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD

Scoring a win at the 1,000-mile race in Sebring (USA), Porsche has increased its lead in the Sports Car World Endurance Championship (WEC). Gianmaria Bruni (Italy) and Richard Lietz (Austria) finished round six of the WEC in Florida in first place with the No. 91 Porsche 911 RSR. Their works driver colleagues, Kévin Estre (France) and Michael Christensen (Denmark), achieved fifth place in the ca. 510-hp sports car from Weissach. After the sixth of this season’s eight races, the duo in the No. 92 car holds a clear championship lead. In the manufacturer’s classification, Porsche has succeeded in further extending its top position. In the GTE-Am class, the Dempsey Proton Racing squad notched up its second straight win.

“BMW M MOTORSPORT SUPER WEEKEND” – PART ONE: BMW TEAM MTEK CLAIMS PODIUM FINISH AT SEBRING

The first part of the “BMW M Motorsport Super Weekend” – featuring FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship races – is completed. In the sixth round of the WEC Super Season, BMW Team MTEK finished second and seventh in the LM GTE Pro class respectively with its two BMW M8 GTEs. It was the first podium finish for the team since WEC’s Fuji (JPN) round.

The “BMW M Motorsport Super Weekend” at Sebring (USA) is in full swing. Thursday and Friday saw the qualifying sessions for the BMW M8 GTE in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship 2019. The countdown is underway for the first of the two endurance races at the Sebring International Raceway. The sixth race of the WEC Super Season starts at 16:00 local time for BMW Team MTEK.

PORSCHE TACKLES THE SEBRING 1,000 MILES FROM POLE POSITION

Porsche has secured the best possible starting position for the 1,000-mile race at Sebring in today’s qualifying. The defending world champions, factory drivers Kévin Estre (France) and Michael Christensen (Denmark), planted their number 92 Porsche 911 RSR on pole position. Piloting their ca. 510-hp race car with starting number 91, Richard Lietz (Austria) and Gianmaria Bruni (Italy) will take up round six of this year’s Sports Car World Endurance Championship (WEC) from eighth on the grid. In the GT-Am category, customer teams Dempsey Proton Racing (#77) and Project 1 (#56) locked out the first grid row.
