SMP RACING REACHES TARGET IN THE FIA WEC

The SMP Racing team has successfully completed the FIA WEC 2018-2019 Super Season, achieving the highest possible result. The Russian team ran two BR1 prototypes of the LMP1 category, developed by the Russian company BR Engineering and the Italian Dallara. The SMP Racing drivers through the season were Vitaly Petrov, Mikhail Aleshin, Sergey Sirotkin, Egor Orudzhev, Matevos Isaakyan, Stéphane Sarrazin, Jenson Button and Stoffel Vandoorne.

PORSCHE 911 RSR SCORES FIFTH STRAIGHT IMSA WIN

The Porsche GT Team has set a new record in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Earl Bamber (New Zealand) and Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium) won round six at Bowmanville (Canada) in the No. 912 Porsche 911 RSR and thus notched up the fifth win in a row for Porsche – a feat that no other manufacturer in the GTLM class has managed by now. Their works driver colleagues in the ca. 510 hp No. 911 sister car, Patrick Pilet (France) and Nick Tandy (Great Britain), rounded off the outstanding team result with third place.

BMW TEAM RLL FINISHES P2 AND P4 AT CTMP; TURNER MOTORSPORT BMW M6 GT3 WINS GT DAYTONA CLASS

BMW Team RLL finished second and fourth in today’s two-hour-and-forty-minute IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Mobil 1 Sportscar Grand Prix presented by Acura. John Edwards and Jesse Krohn scored the runner-up finish after starting from the pole position, finishing 1.778 seconds behind the winning Porsche 911 RSR. The result was the first podium of the season for the No. 24 BMW M8 GTE and moves BMW back to second place in GTLM class manufacturer points standings. Tom Blomqvist and Connor De Phillippi finished fourth in the No. 25 BMW M8 GTE, less than nine seconds behind their teammates.

REDESIGNED PORSCHE 911 RSR EXPECTED TO DEFEND WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Porsche puts its faith in the brand-new 911 RSR (2019 model year) to defend the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) title. The race car complying with the FIA GTE regulations is a completely new development. The vehicle from Weissach has undergone improvements in all areas and will replace the successful 911 RSR with which Porsche won the manufacturers’ and drivers’ world championship in the FIA WEC as well as the Le Mans endurance classic (France) and the IMSA races at Sebring and Road Atlanta (Petit Le Mans) amongst other events in 2019.

TAN AND RUMP CLIMB TO BLANCPAIN GT WORLD CHALLENGE ASIA SECOND BENEATH MOUNT FUJI

Audi Sport Asia Team Absolute’s Weiron Tan and Martin Rump took an impressive round seven Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia podium in the shadow of Mount Fuji, Japan. Tan’s getaway when the lights went green launched the Audi Sport Asia pair immediately into podium contention despite starting seventh on the grid. A well-managed pit stop and stint from teammate Rump swept the duo to their second series podium and highest finish of the season at Fuji International Speedway.

CRAFT-BAMBOO RACING HEADS TO FUJI FOR SECOND HALF OF THE 2019 BLANCPAIN GT WORLD CHALLENGE ASIA SEASON

The first half of the 2019 Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia saw Craft-Bamboo Racing realize the potential of the Mercedes-AMG GT3, finishing in the top-three on several occasions including two outright GT3 victories in Sepang and Suzuka. It has also been a strong first half of the season for the sole GT4 entry, with the team having scored four podiums including a class victory in Buriram. The team heads to Fuji Speedway with high expectations for Rounds 7 & 8, in the foothills of the iconic Mt. Fuji.
