LAMBORGHINI CELEBRATES PERFECT YEAR WINNING IMSA GTD CONSTRUCTOR TITLE AND GT OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

Emil Frey Racing ensured Lamborghini tasted yet more GT3 success in 2019, as Giacomo Altoè and Albert Costa clinched the International GT Open championship title in the final round of the season at Monza. Meanwhile a late-race charge by Paul Miller Racing’s Bryan Sellers has clinched the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GT Daytona manufacturer’s championship for Lamborghini at Petit Le Mans.

PORSCHE CARRERA CUP GB CHAMPIONS TAKE VICTORY AT THRILLING SEASON FINALE

The final two races of Porsche Carrera Cup GB, the fastest single marque GT racing championship in the UK, saw victories for 2014 champion and former Porsche GB Scholar Josh Webster (Team Parker Racing), and 2019 champion and Porsche GB 2018 / 2019 Junior Dan Harper (JTR). Mixed weather conditions across the weekend made the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit more challenging than usual for the 22 car grid, delivering close racing with plenty of nail-biting excitement and overtaking.

FERRARI TAKES GTLM VICTORY AT PETIT LE MANS

The no. 62 Ferrari of Risi Competizione claimed victory in the GTLM category of the 2019 running of the Petit Le Mans.  This was the fifth win for Risi Competizione at the famed 10-hour event, the most recent occurring in 2016.  The no. 63 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari was in contention all race long but a late incident relegated them to fifth at the checkered flag.

PORSCHE WINS ALL TITLES AT THE PETIT LE MANS SEASON FINALE

The Porsche GT Team concluded the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season by winning the manufacturer, driver and team titles. At the final round of the season at Road Atlanta (USA), the two Porsche 911 RSR flying the Coca-Cola colours finished on positions five and six. This race marked the 50th and final factory outing for the successful GT vehicle from Stuttgart, which won six of the eleven rounds on the 2019 IMSA calendar. The Porsche works drivers Earl Bamber (New Zealand) and Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium) have been crowned the drivers’ champions, with the team title going to the squad campaigning the No. 912 Porsche 911 RSR. In the GTD class, the Pfaff Motorsports customer team achieved a podium result with the No. 9 Porsche 911 GT3 R.

TURNER MOTORSPORT WINS GTD CLASS AT IMSA FINALE – PODIUM FOR BMW TEAM RLL

The BMW teams in the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship were able to finish the season on a high at Road Atlanta (USA). In the GTD class, Bill Auberlen – who turned 51 on Saturday -, Robby Foley and Dillon Machavern (all USA) claimed victory with the #96 BMW M6 GT3 for Turner Motorsport. BMW Team RLL scored another GTLM podium. The trio of Connor De Phillippi (USA), Tom Blomqvist (GBR) and Colton Herta (USA) came third after sharing driving duties in the #25 BMW M8 GTE. Their team-mates John Edwards (USA), Jesse Krohn (FIN) and Philipp Eng (AUT) finished ninth at the classic Petit Le Mans after an early technical issue with their #24 car.

WEBSTER TAKES PORSCHE CARRERA CUP GB BRANDS HATCH POLE POSITION

Josh Webster (Team Parker Racing) secured the final pole position of the 2019 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season at Brands Hatch, the 2014 champion and former Porsche GB Scholar ended Saturday’s session ahead of Lewis Plato (Motorbase Performance). Wet conditions made the 2.4-mile Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit incredibly challenging, some drivers sliding off the track leading to three red flag periods during the 30 minute session. Webster set his best time early into the session, Plato came to within 0.140secs of it in the latter stages while 2018 Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion Tio Ellinas (Redline Racing) recorded a time good enough for third on the grid – Ellinas will start alongside Dan Vaughan (Motorbase Performance) on the second row.

HARPER HEADS TRICKY PORSCHE CARRERA CUP GB FRIDAY PRACTICE AT BRANDS HATCH

Newly crowned Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion – 18-year-old Porsche GB 2018 / 2019 Junior Dan Harper (JTR) – topped Friday Practice as the championship’s final weekend got underway in Kent. Despite slippery weather conditions, Porsche GB Junior Harper mastered the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit to end the day ranked ahead of Josh Webster (Team Parker Racing) and returnee Ross Wylie (IN2 Racing) in the Pro category standings. The morning Practice session was punctuated by red flag periods as the drivers got to grips with difficult wet conditions, the afternoon’s session was a similar story with a mixture of wet and dry weather running.

BATHURST TO DOMINATE 2020 AUSTRALIAN GT CALENDAR

Australian GT have revealed a comprehensive race calendar for the 2020 season, a calendar that includes events for the CAMS Australian GT Championship, the CAMS Australian Endurance Championship, a dedicated Championship for GT4 cars that also includes stand-alone events, and the pending Pirelli AGT SuperSprint at Mount Panorama at season’s end, a circuit that will play a significant role in the new season calendar with Bathurst appearing four times next year.
