PORSCHE TO START AT ROAD ATLANTA FROM POLE POSITION

At round six of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the Porsche GT Team has claimed its fourth pole position of the season. Driving the No. 911 Porsche 911 RSR, Nick Tandy from Great Britain turned the fastest lap in the GTLM class at Road Atlanta setting a time of 1:16.167 minutes. His works driver teammate Laurens Vanthoor from Belgium planted the second works-RSR with the number 912 on position four. With this, Tandy added to his record in the North American sports car championship: The seasoned racing driver from Bedford has now secured a total of nine pole positions. In the GTD category, the Wright Motorsports customer squad takes up the six-hour race in the US state of Georgia from the third grid spot with the Porsche 911 GT3 R.

FERRARI CHASING GT WORLD CHALLENGE EUROPE ENDURANCE CUP PODIUM AT NÜRBURGRING

The Nürburgring will host the second round of the Endurance Cup of the GT World Challenge Europe this weekend. Five Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020s will be involved in the six-hour race. After the season debut at Imola where the Ferraris did less well than they deserved, with only the Sky Tempesta Racing car mounting the podium in the Pro-Am class, Prancing Horse teams will fight it out with forty-three other crews entered in the event.

PORSCHE HEADS TO ROAD ATLANTA HIGHLY MOTIVATED

The Porsche GT Team has big plans for the next highlight on the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship calendar: At the upcoming sixth round of the season on 5 September at Road Atlanta in the US state of Georgia, the squad is determined to clinch the first win of the season with the two new Porsche 911 RSR. At the previous three races, the ca. 515 hp GTLM-sports car from Weissach was well on course to score its first class win of the year in North America, only to have bad luck strike every time. The race on the storied circuit near the town of Braselton runs over six hours and is regarded as a critical rehearsal for the classic Petit Le Mans event, which is held at the same venue in October. In the GTD category, the Wright Motorsports customer team fields a Porsche 911 GT3 R.

ENDURANCE RACING RESUMES FOR ERA MOTORSPORT

It has been eight months since the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship held and endurance race, but this weekend, the sports car racing series heads to Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. The No. 18 Era Motorsport Oreca earned a third place finish at the Rolex 24 At Daytona in January, and after a series of podium finishes in the subsequent sprint events, the team is ready to climb higher up the podium for this weekend’s endurance event.

K-PAX RACING ENTERS INDIANAPOLIS 8 HOUR

K-PAX Racing will not have to look far to continue its season centered around endurance racing, setting its sights Midwest to “The Racing Capital of the World” for the Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC) Indianapolis 8 Hour October 2-4 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The team will enter one Bentley-Works driver line-up for its fourth IGTC appearance in the last five seasons.

BMW TEAM RLL READY FOR SIX HOURS AT ROAD ATLANTA

With consecutive podium finishes (P3 – Road America and P2 – VIR) in the last two 2020 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship races BMW Team RLL has now amassed a total of 80 podium finishes since beginning its BMW racing program in 2009.The team is hoping to add a second season’s win at the six-hour Tirerack.com Grand Prix at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, in Braselton Ga. On Sept. 5th. BMW Team RLL triumphed at this year’s Rolex 24 At Daytona in January, the only event of 2020 not affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The six-hour race at Road Atlanta replaces the six-hour race at Watkins Glen International.
