ROVERA TO MAKE FIA WEC DEBUT AT THE SPA 6 HOURS

Alessio Rovera is about to make his debut in the FIA World Endurance Championship on Ferrari 488 GTE. Born in 1995, the Italian driver from Varese will take part in the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps on Saturday, May 1, after testing at the Belgian track during the two-day Prologue early this week. The Italian GT double champion (2019, 2020) is going to share the #83 AF Corse Ferrari with French driver François Perrodo and Nicklas Nielsen from Denmark in the LMGTE Am class for the whole season. After being second fastest overall at the ELMS official test two weeks ago, Rovera started his FIA WEC campaign setting the second quickest time (2:15.576) on Monday’s afternoon session and being fifth fastest 24 hours later (2:15.454).

SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE FIA WEC SEASON PREPARATIONS FOR PORSCHE

The Porsche works team contesting the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) has successfully completed its preparations for the 2021 season. In the official two-day tests on the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, the two Porsche 911 RSR covered a total distance of 2,977 kilometres. The main focus of the tests was on the setup and tyre use as well as optimising the procedures within the team. In the so-called prologue of the WEC, the two ca. 515 hp factory cars from Weissach impressed with fast and steady lap times. Works driver Kévin Estre from France turned the fastest lap in the GTE-Pro class in 2:12.916 minutes.

DXDT RACING RESUMES CHAMPIONSHIP CAMPAIGNS IN THE LONE STAR STATE

Almost two months have passed since SRO America began the 2021 sports car racing season at Sonoma Raceway, and at long last, competition resumes this weekend at Circuit of the Americas. DXDT Racing, armed with a fleet of Mercedes AMG GT3 cars and a Honda Civic Type-R, will contest in six races in the Fanatec GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS, GT America Powered by AWS, and TC America powered by Skip Barber Racing School. Circuit of the Americas, the famed Formula 1 circuit in Austin, Texas, will host the three double-headers, serving up an action-packed weekend of diverse sports car racing on its 3.4-mile circuit.

The Porsche works team sends two 911 RSR to tackle the opening round of the FIA World Endurance Championship WEC at Spa-Francorchamps on 1 May. The successful team of the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer faces unique conditions in Belgium’s Ardennes region. No other racetrack apart from Le Mans is as long (7.004 kilometres), as undulating (with an elevation change of 100 metres), and as diverse in its challenging mix of high-speed passages and spectacular corners with extreme lateral acceleration.

BMW JUNIOR TEAM PREPARES FOR THE NURBURGRING 24 HOURS

The BMW Junior Team has kicked off its 2021 season on the Nordschleife when Dan Harper (GBR), Max Hesse (GER) and Neil Verhagen (USA) contested their first race in the BMW M6 GT3 within the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS). The highlight of the season is the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring (GER) at the start of June, for which the BMW Junior Team is already preparing meticulously. BMW works driver Augusto Farfus (BRA) is supporting the young trio with his wealth of experience. This season, BMW Team RMG is responsible for the team’s outings.

PORSCHE TAKES UP THE HUNT FOR THE 2021 FIA WEC TITLE AT BELGIUM’S ENDURANCE CLASSIC

The Porsche works team tackles the opening round of the FIA World Endurance Championship at Spa-Francorchamps on 1 May with two 911 RSR. For the six-hour race in the Ardennes region of Belgium, the factory drivers Gianmaria Bruni from Italy and Richard Lietz from Austria share the cockpit of the ca. 515-hp GT racing vehicle with the starting number 91. The crew in the identical No. 92 sister car has changed from previous years: this season, Frenchman Kévin Estre, the 2018/2019 WEC champion, shares the vehicle with Neel Jani. In preparation for his WEC mission with the Porsche 911 RSR, the experienced Swiss racer contested the final round of the 2020 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in Sebring and took part in extensive tests.

PR1/MATHIASEN MOTORSPORTS SET TO BEGIN EUROPEAN JOURNEY TO LE MANS IN COLLABORATION WITH TECH1 RACING

PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports will begin their European adventure in the 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship, in collaboration with Tech1 Racing. PR1 Motorsports will take part in three events of the WEC Calendar, starting with The Prologue next week, followed by Total 6 Hours of SPA-Francorchamps, and culminating with the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans in August. The lineup for the #24 PR1 Motorsports / Tech1Racing LMP2, is composed of Patrick Kelly, Simon Trummer and Gabriel Aubry. 

2021 ADAC GT MASTERS FEATURES STRONG FIELD AND TOP CLASS DRIVERS

A strong field, top-class drivers and a wealth of diversity, with seven different manufacturers: the ADAC GT Masters boasts a strong package in its 15th season, in which the title of International German GT Champion is up for grabs for the first time. ADAC Sport President Hermann Tomczyk, ADAC Board Member Lars Soutschka, and ADAC Motorsport Director Thomas Voss presented the 2021 ADAC GT Masters at the official pre-season test, which took place on Tuesday at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, near Magdeburg. A total of 31 super sports cars from 20 teams and seven different manufacturers plan to take to the grid this year. At the wheel of the cars – from Audi, BMW, Corvette, Honda, Lamborghini, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche – will be more than 30 top-class, professional drivers.
