WYLIE MAKES SOLID RETURN TO PORSCHE CARRERA CUP GB

Ross Wylie made a solid return to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB by scoring two top-seven placings at Silverstone (26 Sep). Ross posted seventh place in the day’s opening race and followed that up with sixth in Race 2.  

FERRARI CHALLENGE UK HEADS TO OULTON PARK FOR SEASON FINALE

The Ferrari Challenge UK visits the Oulton Park circuit this weekend, for the final two races of a thrilling season which started at Brands Hatch back in May. Current leader, Lucky Khera (Graypaul Birmingham), has been consistent throughout the year, with two race wins and six 2nd places in 8 races, as well as a Pole Position at Brands Hatch and three fastest laps.

THE TITLE RACE RESUMES IN THE GERMAN GT CHAMPIONSHIP

The suspense is rising: The title race in the German GT Championship travels to the Sachsenring this weekend (1st to 3rd October) for the sixth of this season’s eight events, and the contenders for the championship can afford no signs of weakness at the challenging and undulating circuit. Just three points separate championship leaders Ricardo Feller (21/CH) and Christopher Mies (31/Düsseldorf, both Montaplast by Land-Motorsport) in the Audi from their closest rivals, Mercedes-AMG works drivers Raffaele Marciello (26/I) and Maximilian Buhk (28/Hamburg, both Mann-Filter Team Landgraf – HTP/WWR). As well as being able to follow the action from the grandstands at the Sachsenring, fans will again be allowed in the paddock, where they will be in the thick of the action.

PORSCHE CARRERA CUP DEUTSCHLAND WIN FOR LARRY TEN VOORDE AT MONZA

Larry ten Voorde (Team GP Elite) has taken an important step on his mission to defend his Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland title. The Dutchman won race twelve on Sunday at Italy’s Autodromo Nazionale Monza ahead of Porsche Junior Ayhancan Güven (Turkey/Phoenix Racing) and Bastian Buus (Denmark/Allied-Racing). “The wet track surface dried up lap after lap, so the conditions were special. Ayhancan Güven and I had an intense duel, which was great fun. Ultimately, I pipped him at the post,” said ten Voorde. Thanks to his victory as part of the International GT Open support programme, the defending champion managed to extend his lead in Carrera Cup standings and now lies 28 points ahead of Saturday’s winner Güven in the overall rankings.

Dan Cammish (Redline Racing) arrived as the third championship leader of the season following the Croft weekend, but his eight point advantage over Lorcan Hanafin (JTR) would be reduced significantly by Sunday afternoon. 

GT WORLD CHALLENGE EUROPE SPRINT CUP PRO-AM AND SILVER CUP TITLES DECIDED AT VALENCIA

The Silver Cup and Pro-Am titles were decided in the final Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Sprint Cup race of 2021, while Mercedes-AMG Team Toksport WRT sealed a clean sweep of overall victories to conclude the campaign in style at Circuit Ricardo Tormo Valencia.

PFAFF LONG BEACH SECOND-PLACE MOVES “PLAID PORSCHE” INTO IMSA GTD POINTS LEAD

Pfaff Motorsports moved the No. 9 “Plaid Porsche” to the top of the GTD class championship point standings following a hard-fought second-place finish at the Grand Prix of Long Beach on Saturday, September 25. The 100-minute race – the shortest of the season for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship – on the temporary race course through the streets of Long Beach, California also saw the No. 16 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R continue its podium streak finishing in third-place. In the GTLM class, the Proton Competition-managed WeatherTech Racing No. 79 Porsche 911 RSR-19 also brought home a third-place result.

BMW JUNIOR TEAM RACES TO THE PODIUM AT NLS 8

In beautiful late summer weather, the BMW Junior Team finished round eight of the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife (GER) on the podium. After four hours of racing, Neil Verhagen (USA), Dan Harper (GBR) and Max Hesse (GER) crossed the finish line in third place in the # 44 BMW M6 GT3. In the end, the trio was only 14 hundredths of a second short of second place. The new BMW M4 GT3 took the chequered flag in fifth place. The #55 car was driven by Philipp Eng (AUT) and Augusto Farfus (BRA).

WEATHERTECH RACING TO START THIRD AT LONG BEACH

 Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, Ill.) and Mathieu Jaminet (France) will start from the second row in GTLM for tomorrow’s running of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Acura Long Beach Grand Prix.

SECOND ROW START FOR MEYER SHANK RACING AT LONG BEACH

The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach (AGPLB) stages a big weekend of racing for Meyer Shank Racing’s (MSR) IMSA WeatherTech and INDYCAR SERIES programs. Dane Cameron was the first of the MSR squad to qualify for the AGPLB on Friday which will see him start fourth in the No. 60 Acura ARX-05 DPi.
