Day one of the opening round of the 2019 CAMS Australian GT Championship delivered a tantalising taste of what the new season has to offer. Two 20-minute qualifying sessions preceded the opening race of the event with Fraser Ross delivering a fairy tale result on the competition debut of the new McLaren 720S GT3.

Porsche has secured the best possible starting position for the 1,000-mile race at Sebring in today’s qualifying. The defending world champions, factory drivers Kévin Estre (France) and Michael Christensen (Denmark), planted their number 92 Porsche 911 RSR on pole position. Piloting their ca. 510-hp race car with starting number 91, Richard Lietz (Austria) and Gianmaria Bruni (Italy) will take up round six of this year’s Sports Car World Endurance Championship (WEC) from eighth on the grid. In the GT-Am category, customer teams Dempsey Proton Racing (#77) and Project 1 (#56) locked out the first grid row.

In the qualification of the sixth round of the 2018-19 FIA World Endurance Championship season, SMP Racing car No.17 (Egor Orudzhev / Stephane Sarrazin / Sergey Sirotkin) showed the third result, while the BR1 sport prototype of the Russian team No.11 (Mikhail Aleshin / Vitaly Petrov / Brendon Hartley) became the fifth.

IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge champions TeamTGM got the Sebring event weekend off to a fast start after Owen Trinkler piloted the No. 46 JKTGFoundation.org / Camp Boggy Creek Mercedes-AMG GT4 to the MOTUL pole with a fast lap time of 2:10.521-seconds. The time is a new track record by over one second.

Performance Tech Motorsports closed Round Two of the IMSA Prototype Challenge series at Sebring International Raceway having two cars finish out front after having the lineup challenge the top-10.

Stefano Colombo and Francesca Linossi join team Antonelli Motorsport for the upcoming Italian GT season. Colombo, a 28-year-old skilled racer from Borgomanero who won the GT3 title in 2012, will be partnered by his fiancée on a Mercedes-AMG GT3 car.

From 28-30 March, the California 8 Hours will be taking place in Monterey, USA. The race at the legendary Laguna Seca Raceway is the second of this season’s five rounds of the Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli. In the hard-fought endurance race series, Mercedes-AMG is leading the manufacturers’ standings having claimed third and fourth place in the 12-hour race at Bathurst. To defend its leading position in the race in the US, the performance and sports car brand from Affalterbach is relying on four Mercedes-AMG GT3s with a high-quality line-up.

For the fourth round, all-electric racing visits China with the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY heading to the city of Sanya on Hainan Island. Starring as Sanya’s Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY VIP driver is three times consecutive Asian Le Mans Series Drivers Champion, David Cheng.

PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports will officially expand its operations with a new LMP3 entry in the IMSA Prototype Challenge category this weekend at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Presented by Advance Autoparts with drivers Scott Huffaker and Mike Guasch.
