Packing the momentum of a podium finish as well as the confidence that comes with being the defending race winners, Mustang Sampling Racing returns to the streets of Long Beach this weekend for the Bubba Burgers Grand Prix, Round 3 of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship on Saturday, April 13.

After taking two podium results in the grueling 36 hours of endurance racing that open the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the Whelen Engineering Racing team now shifts into sprint mode for Round 3 of the 2019 campaign for Saturday’s Bubba Burger Grand Prix on the streets of Long Beach.

The winter break definitively came to an end as the ADAC GT Masters got its new season underway with two days of testing at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. The absolute best time was set by Audi driver Dries Vanthoor (20, BEL, Montaplast by Land-Motorsport). With four different brands leading the way in the six test sessions, the new season promises to be highly competitive. The Super Sports Car League opener will be contested on the weekend of 26th – 28th April, also at the Oschersleben circuit near Magdeburg.

The Cadillac Racing teams are heading west to California for the IMSA WeatherTech Championship Bubba Burger Sports Car Grand Prix at Long Beach to run April 12-13.

The battle for overall honours will take centre stage when the 2019 Blancpain GT Series gets underway this weekend (13/14 April), but while the action up front is sure to be frantic there should be just as much to follow in the Silver Cup.

However, as Sunday approached, concerns prevailed that the sheer power and slickness of the opponents would have made it difficult even to step on the class podium for the Italian-Norwegian pair. As it is, the Varese, Italy-based team was able to seize the opportunities triggered by the weather vagaries, as drizzle started just as the GT cars were reaching the grid. The Italian crew knows by heart the best qualities of the battle-hardened Ginetta G55, and this allowed the #208 car pit wall to make the right bets whenever uncertainty reigned.

Entering its fifth season, the Blancpain GT Sports Club returns to the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza this weekend (13-14 April) for the first round of the 2019 season, with a 15-car field.

The 2019 GT4 European Series season gets underway in Italy this weekend (13-14 April), with the series returning to the legendary Autodromo Nazionale di Monza for the first time since 2016. The Monza round is the first of six double rounds on the calendar, all to be held on the same weekends as the Blancpain GT Series.

The world’s leading GT competitors will descend on the Belgian Ardennes this summer in the hope of securing one of the biggest prizes in motor racing: overall victory at the Total 24 Hours of Spa (25-28 July).

Former champions like Sebastian Asch (32, GER), Luca Ludwig (30, GER, both HB Racing) and Maximilian Götz (33, GER, Mann-Filter Team HTP), World Endurance Champion Timo Bernhard (38, GER, KÜS Team75 Bernhard) and newcomer Fabian Vettel (20, GER, Mann-Filter Team HTP). On Media Day held during the official preseason tests at Oschersleben, the ADAC GT Masters presented an attractive line-up for its 2019 season, which opens on the weekend of 26th – 28th April at the same venue.

Formula E arrives in Europe: Following events in Asia, the Middle East, and South and Central America, the electric racing series will race on the streets of Rome on Saturday (April 13). Daniel Abt and Lucas di Grassi are in the thick of the fight for the top spot. With their team, Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler, they are separated from the leaders of the standings by only one point.

The opening rounds of the 2019 Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia season were held at the Sepang Circuit in Malaysia, and it also marked Craft-Bamboo Racing’s first outing in the series as an Official Performance Team of Mercedes-AMG. The team began the 2019 season in style, victorious in Race 1 after a stellar drive from the #88 J-Fly Racing Pairing of Jeffrey Lee and Alessio Picariello, and the #99 pairing of Darryl O’Young and Christina Nielsen finished on the podium again in Race 2. In the GT4 class, the #77 car with Frank Yu and Jean-Marc Merlin bounced back after a difficult first race to finished 2nd on Sunday.

The Gama Racing pair of Evan Chen and championship newcomer Chris van der Drift stormed to victory in the opening round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia 2019 as the championship’s eighth season got off to a dramatic start. Just as the 50-minute, 21-lap night race under lights at Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit was preparing to get underway, the skies opened and rain began to pour down. While many of the teams opted for wet weather tyres, Gama Racing took a gamble by starting van der Drift on slicks – a decision which later helped them to a 6.499 second victory by the chequered flag.

Multiple GT300 race winner, and 2018 Vice-Champion, Sean Walkinshaw has officially confirmed his return to the ultra-competitive Autobacs Super GT Championship for a third season this year after switching to Panther ARTO Team Thailand to pilot the squad’s Lexus RC-F GT3 car.

Round 2 of the 2019 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America Championship provided the Barber Motorsports Park fans with a great many highlights and in the end, a number of multiple winners on the weekend.
