BMW Team RLL returns to Virginia International Raceway this weekend for the ninth round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season. Last year, the classic 3.27 mile, 17-turn race track near Alton (USA) was the site of the team’s very first victory and double podium finish with the BMW M8 GTE.

The Virginia International Raceway hosts round nine of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship this coming weekend (23-25 August). The Porsche GT Team travels to the storied racetrack as the leader of the manufacturer and driver classifications. With five victories as well as podium finishes at every IMSA race so far this season, the works driver crews, Earl Bamber (New Zealand) and Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium) in the No. 912 car, as well as Patrick Pilet (France) and Nick Tandy (Great Britain) in the No. 911 vehicle, currently rank first and second respectively in the GTLM class. Porsche leads the manufacturers’ classification with a 21-point advantage. 

KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) heads to Japan with its two Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 cars for the fourth round of the 2019 Intercontinental GT Challenge, the Suzuka 10 Hours, which marks Nissan’s home event (23-25 August).

Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific aims to build on its success with the new-generation Porsche 911 GT3 R in 2019 at the iconic Suzuka 10 Hours with four factory-supported regional customer teams fielding three Porsche works drivers and three Porsche Young Professionals.

Corvette Racing gets its second shot at overall glory in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship this weekend with an annual visit to Virginia International Raceway. The Michelin GT Challenge at VIR is one of two GT-only weekends in the IMSA championship and is one Corvette Racing has captured twice.

The fourth and penultimate race of this season’s Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC) will take place in Japan this weekend. Walkenhorst Motorsport and BMW Team Schnitzer will each field one BMW M6 GT3 in the 10 Hours of Suzuka. This time, Augusto Farfus (BRA) and Martin Tomczyk (GER) will be supported by Nick Yelloly (GBR) as the third driver in the #42 BMW M6 GT3.
