HISTORY-MAKING FINISH FOR HEINRICHER RACING AT LAGUNA SECA

The first podium finish of the 2020 season for the No. 57 Heinricher Racing with Meyer Shank Racing Acura NSX GT3 was a historic one—marking the first podium for a female-owned team in the history of IMSA racing. The third-place finish for the Jackie Heinricher-owned car was made possible by the continued hard work and diligence of drivers Alvaro Parente and Misha Goikhberg.

PORSCHE GT TEAM WINS AFTER A TACTICAL MASTERSTROKE IN CALIFORNIA

The Porsche GT Team has scored its second straight win in the North American IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Belgium’s Laurens Vanthoor and Earl Bamber from New Zealand reached the finish line first on the Laguna Seca Raceway and achieved the first victory for the Porsche 911 RSR on the storied Californian racetrack since the start of the factory campaign in 2014. The identical ca. 515 hp sister car driven by their works driver colleagues Nick Tandy from Great Britain and Frédéric Makowiecki from France finished on fourth place in the hotly-contested GTLM category.

United Autosports have been crowned European Le Mans Series LMP3 Champions for the third time at the final round of the 2020 season in Portimao, Portugal.

From 17th on the grid to victory – the Mercedes-AMG pairing of Mick Wishofer (21, AUT) and Dorian Boccolacci (22, FRA, both Team Zakspeed BKK Mobil Oil Racing) pulled off a major coup in Sunday’s ADAC GT Masters race at the Lausitzring. In wet conditions, they delivered a superb performance to secure a surprise maiden victory in the Super Sports Car League. Second place went to Robert Renauer (35, GER) and Klaus Bachler (29, AUT, both Precote Herberth Motorsport), a result that lifts Renauer to second place in the championship. P3 went to the sister car driven by Alfred Renauer (35, GER) and Sebastian Asch (34, GER, both Precote Herberth Motorsport). With two races remaining, Audi drivers and title defenders Patric Niederhauser (29, CH) and Kelvin van der Linde (24, ZA, both Rutronik Racing) continue to lead the standings, five points ahead of Renauer and seven points clear of the Porsche duo Christian Engelhart (33, GER) and Michael Ammermüller (34, GER, both SSR Performance). “A mega result,” said a delighted Dorian Boccolacci. “I am really proud of our team, because our car has been really good for the entire race weekend.”

McMURRY SCORES FIRST-EVER IMSA GTD POLE AT LAGUNA SECA

Matt McMurry scored his first ever IMSA GTD pole position at Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca on Sunday. After completing just four laps during the 15-minutes session, McMurry posted a 1:25.126-second flyer to put the No. 86 Acura NSX GT3 on pole for Sunday afternoon’s Monterey Sports Car Championship race.

AUDI DUO HOFER AND HAASE WIN RAIN-AFFECTED ADAC GT MASTERS SATURDAY THRILLER AT THE LAUSITZRING

Saturday’s ADAC GT Masters race at the Lausitzring was suspenseful right up to the last few metres. The Audi pairing of Max Hofer (21, AUT) and Christopher Haase (33, GER, both Montaplast by Land Motorsport) won by a margin of only 0.147 seconds ahead of Indy Dontje (27, NL) and Maximilian Götz (34, GER) in the Mercedes-AMG of Mann-Filter-Team HTP-Winward. Robert Renauer (35, GER, Precote Herberth Motorsport), partnered this time by Klaus Bachler (29, AUT), kept his title hopes alive with a P3 finish.
