CHALLENGING GT OPEN RACE TWO AT SPA FOR AL HARTHY AND OMAN RACING WITH P6 IN PRO-AM

Race one Pro-Am class winners Ahmad Al Harthy and Tom Canning experienced a challenging conclusion to their debut weekend in the International GT Open at Spa-Francorchamps on Sunday, 18th October, when early delays in the second contest restricted them to a top six Pro-Am finish.

BMW DUO KLINGMANN & JOHANSSON WIN 200th ADAC GT MASTERS RACE

Erik Johansson (24, SWE) and Jens Klingmann (30, GER, both MRS GT-Racing) have gone down in ADAC GT Masters history as winners of the 200th race. Victory for the BMW duo on Sunday at the Red Bull Ring means that the Super Sports Car League has now seen nine different winners in the ten outings of the current campaign. Runners-up were Luca Stolz (25, GER) and Maro Engel (35, Monte Carlo, both Toksport WRT) in a Mercedes-AMG, with third place going to Lamborghini works drivers Franck Perera (36, FRA) and Albert Costa Balboa (30, ESP, both GRT Grasser Racing Team). “Amazing!” was race winner Jens Klingmann’s verdict at the finish. “To have won the 200th race of the ADAC GT Masters is really something very special. After this morning’s quali, I certainly wasn’t expecting the win – I would have been satisfied with just a podium.”

SIXTH-PLACE FINISH AT PETIT LE MANS FOR HEINRICHER RACING

Staying out of trouble, laying down consistent laps times and maintaining patience were key factors in Heinricher Racing’s sixth-place finish at the Motul Petit Le Mans on Saturday. Alvaro Parente, Misha Goikhberg and Trent Hindman once again joined forces to earn another hard-fought finish at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. 

LAUSITZRING NEXT STOP IN THE ADAC GT MASTERS

The sixth race weekend of the ADAC GT Masters will be held from October 30th to November 1st at the DEKRA Lausitzring. The second race of the ADAC GT Master on the Brandenburg track after the start of the season at the end of July replaces the races originally scheduled at Circuit Zandvoort in the Netherlands on the same date. The ADAC GT Masters and Circuit Zandvoort have been working intensively on a concept over the past few weeks to run the race weekend. Due to the high number of infections in the Netherlands and the classification as a risk area by the German government, the ADAC GT Masters has now decided to change the venue at short notice. Together with the ADAC GT Masters, the ADAC GT4 Germany, ADAC TCR Germany, ADAC Formula 4 and the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany race at DEKRA Lausitzring.

PODIUM FOR BMW TEAM RLL AT PETIT LE MANS

John Edwards, Jesse Krohn and Augusto Farfus co-drove BMW Team RLL’s No. 24 MOTUL BMW M8 GTE to a third-place finish in today’s 10-hour IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship MOTUL Petit Le Mans to score the team’s sixth consecutive podium finish. The trio led the GTLM class multiple times, made 11 pit stops and completed 431 laps of the Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta to finish 4.412 seconds behind the winning Porsche. Each BMW driver had their turn at the front of the GTLM field with Farfus taking the lead for the final time on lap 401, four laps after the class cycled through their final stops. Unfortunately, two laps later he was pushed off by a prototype car in turn 12 and had to run through the grass along the outside of the front straight. As a result, he had to pit again to clean the grill, dropping some 26 seconds to the leaders. Charging back, he took advantage of collision by a competitor to secure the podium finish as the race ended under caution.

PORSCHE GT TEAM CELEBRATES FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON AT “PETIT LE MANS”

At “Petit Le Mans” on the Road Atlanta racetrack, the Porsche GT Team has achieved its first win in this year’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Works drivers Nick Tandy (Great Britain), Frédéric Makowiecki (France) and Matt Campbell (Australia) won the ten-hour race in the US state of Georgia by a narrow 1.779 seconds. The second Porsche 911 RSR, driven by Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium), Earl Bamber (New Zealand) and Mathieu Jaminet (France), became entangled in an accident in the turbulent final phase and reached the finish line in fifth place. After nine of eleven races, Porsche ranks third in the GTLM manufacturers’ championship.

CADILLAC WINS PETIT LE MANS

The Konica Minolta Cadillac racing team won today’s running of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

HENRIC SKOOG AND NICK YELLOLY IN FIRST WIN OF THE ADAC GT MASTERS SEASON FOR BMW

There have now been eight different winners in nine races. Henric Skoog (24, SWE) and Nick Yelloly (29, GBR, both Schubert Motorsport) driving a BMW M6 GT3 cruised to victory in Saturday’s ADAC GT Masters race at the Red Bull Ring. Their triumph in the 199th race of the Super Sports Car League was the first for BMW this season. Porsche drivers Robert Renauer (35, GER) and Sven Müller (28, GER, both Precote Herberth Motorsport) finished second on the Austrian Formula 1 circuit, with third place going to Erik Johansson (24, SWE) and Jens Klingmann (30, GER, both MRS GT-Racing) in another BMW. “After our somewhat faltering start to the season, this success is an important one for the whole team,” said winner Henric Skoog at the finish. “The guys were incredibly happy. We’re now looking to excel again tomorrow.” Sunday’s race in Austria will be the 200th in the history of the ADAC GT Masters.

THIRD-ROW START FOR HEINRICHER RACING AT PETIT LE MANS

The No. 57 Heinricher Racing with Meyer Shank Racing Acura NSX GT3 will start sixth for the Motul Petit Le Mans on Saturday. Misha Goikhberg posted a 1:19.666-second lap to put the Acura on the third row for the 10-hour endurance event.

PORSCHE HEADS INTO “PETIT LE MANS” FROM POSITIONS FOUR AND SIX

The ninth round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship run over ten hours is called “Petit Le Mans“. The Porsche GT Team has secured grid positions four and six in the GTLM category. Belgium’s Laurens Vanthoor lapped the 4.088-kilometre Road Atlanta circuit in the No. 912 Porsche 911 RSR in 1:15.657 minutes. His works driver colleague Nick Tandy from Great Britain set a lap time of 1:15.858 minutes in the No. 911 sister car.

ROBERT RENAUER KICKS OF SPECIAL ADAC GT MASTERS ANNIVERSARY WEEKEND WITH BEST TIME
