DOUBLE DTM TRIUMPH FOR MERCEDES-AMG MOTORSPORT AT LAUSITZRING

In the second event of the 2021 DTM, Mercedes-AMG Motorsport scores its first two wins in the still fresh season in the weekend’s two races. Philip Ellis (SUI) from Mercedes-AMG Team WINWARD secured victory in the first race at Lausitzring with a strong performance in the #57 Mercedes-AMG GT3. On Sunday, Mercedes-AMG Team HRT’s Maximilian Götz (GER) emulated this success by winning the second race.

ULRICH CLINCHES GT2 EUROPEAN SERIES AM TITLE AS AUDI AND KTM TRIUMPH ONCE APIECE AT SPA

PK Carsport by Heinz’s #81 Audi and True Racing’s #16 KTM shared the Fanatec GT2 European Series Pro-Am honours during an enthralling weekend of racing at Spa-Francorchamps on 24-25 July – the championship’s first visit to the iconic Belgium circuit.

Excitement swirled at the Lausitzring as the second weekend of the DTM season came to a close, with Liam Lawson’s Ferrari taking second place and Alex Albon’s eleventh.

Christoph Ulrich put in a strong qualifying performance to take a double pole position in Am ahead of the penultimate rounds of the 2021 Fanatec GT2 European Series at Spa-Francorchamps tomorrow (25 July).

EXCELLENT DTM SECOND PLACE FOR LAWSON IN RACE-1 AT LAUSITZRING

Liam Lawson’s second place and Alex Albon’s fifth in Race-1 of round two of the DTM at the Lausitzring were brilliant results given a Balance of Performance that reduced the power of AF Corse’s 488 GT3 Evo 2020.

YOUNT AND HILDEBRAND TO RACE NTE SPORT AUDI R8 LMS AT ROAD AMERICA IMSA SPORTSCAR WEEKEND

Following a successful fourth-place finish at the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen last month, Audi Sport Customer Racing team NTE Sport is back in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship next month for the IMSA SportsCar Weekend at Road America. The No. 42 Audi R8 LMS will be piloted by returning drivers Don Yount and JR Hildebrand.

FERRARI AT LAUSITZRING FOR ENCORE IN THE DTM

After an extraordinary victorious debut at Monza, Ferrari is looking to repeat the feat in round two of the DTM season this weekend at the Lausitzring circuit. The Red Bull Alpha Tauri AF Corse team will represent the Prancing Horse on the track, with the two Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 ‘s driven by Liam Lawson, winner of Race-1 at Brianza, and Alex Albon.

ZAK BROWN AND RICHARD DEAN TO ENTER ROUND FOUR OF GT4 EUROPEAN SERIES AT SPA FRANCORCHAMPS

United Autosports are delighted to confirm that team owners, Zak Brown and Richard Dean will enter the fourth round of the GT4 European Series at Spa Francorchamps, next weekend. 

THE ADAC GT MASTERS UNABLE TO RACE AT THE NURBURGRING AT THE START OF AUGUST

After the tragic flood disaster in the Eifel and the surrounding regions, the Nürburgring and its infrastructure will continue to be used by rescue services as a headquarters for coordinating relief efforts in the region until 8th August at the earliest. Under these circumstances, it is no longer to hold the fourth race weekend of the German GT Championship at the Nürburgring at the start of August, as was originally planned. An alternative date or venue are currently being assessed and will be announced shortly.

MERCEDES-AMG MOTORSPORT CELEBRATES 50-YEAR ANNIVERSARY AT THE 24 HOURS OF SPA

For Mercedes-AMG Motorsport, the 2021 TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa 2021 (29th July – 1st August) mark an extraordinary anniversary. Exactly 50 years ago, the long-standing brand from Affalterbach achieved its first major success in the Belgian endurance racing classic. In 1971, the Mercedes 300 SEL 6.8 AMG finished in second place overall and secured victory in its class. In this year’s edition, 13 Mercedes-AMG GT3s will be on the grid for the world’s biggest race exclusively for GT3 cars, two of them with extended support from Mercedes-AMG. As an homage to the “rote Sau”, as the Mercedes 300 SEL 6.8 AMG is colloquially known as well, the Mercedes-AMG Team HubAuto car with starting number 50 will be racing in the historic livery from the year 1971.

On Saturday 31 July, the world’s most competitive GT race will begin its 73rd edition. This year’s TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa will see nine brands represented on a 58-car grid, with each entrant vying to secure their place in history.

With 83 drivers titles won worldwide and 106 additional championship victories, the Audi R8 LMS is one of the most successful GT3 race cars. To ensure that this continues to be the case, Audi is presenting the evo II model. The revised mid-engine sports car is even more specifically tailored to the requirements of private customer teams, but the additional price is still moderate.

STRONG PACE GOES UNREWARDED FOR GRT GRASSER RACING AT LIME ROCK PARK

GRT Grasser Racing headed to a very special circuit in the USA last weekend to contest the fourth round in the Sprint Cup of the 2021 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar championship. The venue was Lime Rock Park in the state of Connecticut, which is recognized as a place of historic importance. Once again, Lamborghini works driver Franck Perera and IMSA specialist Misha Goikhberg clearly demonstrated the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO’s strong pace in the American sports car championship at the Northeast Grand Prix. However, they had to settle for seventh place despite posting the fastest race lap. Bad weather led to the race being stopped before it had run its course.

PORSCHE WINS GTE-PRO IN ROUND 3 OF THE FIA WEC AT MONZA

Porsche has won the Monza round of the FIA World Endurance Championship. Kévin Estre from France and Neel Jani from Switzerland crossed the finish line first in the fiercely contested GTE-Pro class at the wheel of the No. 92 Porsche 911 RSR on Italy’s high-speed circuit. For the works driver duo, this was the second win from the third race so far this season after their triumph at the opening round in Belgium. Gianmaria Bruni from Italy and the Austrian Richard Lietz concluded the gripping six-hour race on the home turf of their main rival Ferrari in third place. As the best customer team, Project 1 scored fourth place in the GTE-Am category with the No. 56 Porsche 911 RSR.
