With the 70th edition of the Belgian endurance classic just around the corner, the time is right to look back at the highlights from the 25 starts the 56-year-old has under his belt.

Australian GT manager Ken Collier has hailed the opening round of the 2018 season a success.

DC Autosport is thrilled to announce their first two drivers for the 2018 Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda. Team owner Don Conner can confirm that veteran open wheel driver Steve Bamford will be joined by series freshman Eduardo Barrichello, the ___ year-old son of former F1 superstar Rubens Barrichello under the DC Autosport tent. The duo has both tested with the team in the off-season ahead of the season opener at Virginia International Raceway on April 26-29. Conner is a paddock veteran who has been a key staff member of the successful Cape Motorsports operation, and he is extremely motivated to continue Cape’s level of performance with his own team. With two drivers signed for the year, the team has one seat still available for the 2018 season.

With Lucas di Grassi at the wheel, the Audi e-tron FE05 smoothly reeled off its first kilometers of testing at Monteblanco (Spain). The fully electric race car will be fielded in season five of the series that will start at the beginning of December. Audi, together with other manufacturers, visited the circuit in the south of Spain.

United Autosports will enter two Ligier JS P4 sports cars at the opening round of the LMP3 Cup Championship at Donington Park in April.

Ollie Wilkinson will take the step up to European-wide GT3 competition this season, contesting the majority of International GT Open rounds paired with multiple sportscar champion, Bradley Ellis, aboard the Optimum Motorsport Audi R8 LMS.

The season-opening encounter will see teams and drivers looking to lay the foundations for a successful year at the undulating Belgian track, which has traditionally been a happy hunting ground for local favourites Belgian Audi Club Team WRT.

Darryl O’Young will partner Aidan Read in the #991 Craft-Bamboo Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R, completing the team’s two car lineup that is focused on bringing home the Blancpain GT Series Asia championship title. O’Young has been a staple GT driver for Craft-Bamboo since 2014 and has contributed greatly to their success in various championships and events.

At the team presentation on 28th March in the Porsche factory Leipzig, Project 1 introduced its motorsport programme for the coming season. To coincide with its 25th anniversary, the Porsche team tackles the biggest commitment in its entire history.

On a warm and sunny weekend in Texas, 17-year-old Parker Chase and co-driver Ryan Dalziel, drivers of the #19 Vertical Bridge / New Braunfels Convention and Visitors Bureau / ProBalance Protein Water / Music Movement Audi R8 showed persistence at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Taking on the Pirelli World Challenge SprintX GT Pro/Am program, Chase and Dalziel overcame an unfortunate shunt on the during Saturday’s event to stand on the podium on Sunday.

United Autosports have confirmed that Juan Pablo Montoya will join the team for the 2018 Le Mans 24 Hours.

Jenson Button will be competing in two races with historic motorsport experts, JD Classics this year, racing at Le Mans Classic in July and the Goodwood Revival in September. Jenson will be driving two cars expertly prepared by the team of 75 engineers and craftsmen at JD Classics’ 155,000 sq/ft facility, including an XJR-9 at Le Mans Classic.

B-Quik is ready to kick off the new racing season this coming weekend at Sepang International Circuit when the first Thailand Super Series round of the year takes place.

TruSpeed Autosports’ Kevin Woods and Competition Motorsports’ Sean McAlister each took overall victories from pole in the split group Race Two of the Pirelli Trophy West USA series on the road course at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday as the series launched the 12th season of competition for the growing championship.

ADAC GT Masters teams and drivers prepared for the new season with two days of testing in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. The Mercedes-AMG set the best lap times, as three of the Swabian GT3 sports cars took the top three positions overall. The ADAC GT Masters season opener will be held on the weekend of 13th – 15th April in Oschersleben.

Emil Frey Jaguar Racing underwent an intensive test program with the GT3 Jaguar ahead of the fourth season in the Blancpain GT Series, starting in three weeks. The Swiss team concluded two test days each at Monza, Misano and Barcelona in order to be best prepared ahead of the start into the season at Monza (Italy).

Nissan has its sights set on a strong Super GT season ahead after completing testing in preparation for the opening round of the championship in two week’s time.
