Action Express Racing will begin their Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring title defense from the third and fourth starting positions, with Dane Cameron leading the team’s charge in the Whelen Engineering Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Prototype with a lap of 1:51.943. Cameron edged defending race-winner and teammate Christian Fittipaldi in the Mustang Sampling Corvette DP after the Brazilian driver posted a lap of 1:52.205.

“I think we have a really good Whelen Engineering Corvette DP,” said Cameron. “Track conditions at Sebring change so fast with the weather and the amount of cars in the other series that are running so, after the Continental Tire Race the track was really different.

“I wasn’t quite as happy with the car as I was in the morning, but the car is still very good, and very well prepared for the race. We are starting in third, up near the front and down on the inside so it will be a good view going into turn one. It is going to be a long 12 hours tomorrow but the Action Express Racing guys have us well prepared in both cars.”

For Christian Fittipaldi, the qualifying run was less than what he had desired, but he remained confident in his Mustang Sampling Corvette DP for Saturday’s race.

“Starting fourth puts us in a good position,” said Fittipaldi. “Obviously this is our second longest race of the season, and a lot goes into winning the race beyond just raw speed. I’m confident for the race, we’ve spent the majority of our time working on race setups the last two days. We’ll do the best that we can with what we have and go from there tomorrow.”

Team owner Bob Johnson was on hand for Total Pole qualifying and was pleased with what his drivers and team accomplished in the 15-minute session.

“We had a great afternoon,” said Johnson. “We always want to qualify on the pole, but starting third and fourth will put us in a great position to start the race tomorrow morning. I couldn’t be more proud of the efforts that our guys have put in on both the Whelen Engineering Corvette DP and the Mustang Sampling Corvette DP. We’re one team with two cars at Action Express Racing and today we proved that again.”

The 64th annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring goes green at 10:40 a.m. EDT on Saturday. Live coverage will commence at 10:30 a.m. on FOX Sports 1. Coverage will transition to FOX Sports 2 at 12:30 p.m., IMSA.com from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. The race will conclude on FOX Sports 2 beginning at 10:00 p.m. and through the crowning of this year’s champions of the longest running endurance competition in North America.
