Mancinelli’s Ferrari Fastest in Friday SprintX Practice; Bleekemolen (Mercedes), Long (Porsche), Marcelli (Ferrari) Follow
Qualifying Set for 4:55 p.m. EDT Friday at 2.459-mile, 10-turn legendary circuit
BOWMANVILLE, Ont., Canada – VIR Round 3 winner Daniel Manicelli continue to show impressive speed in the Pirelli World Challenge after posting the quickest time in Friday’s SprintX practice at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.
Mancinelli, making his initial start at CTMP, drove the No. 31 TR3 Racing/The Collection Ferrari 488 GT3 to a time of one minute, 16.200 seconds (116.17 miles per hour) to pace the 32-driver SprintX field at the legendary 2.459-mile, 10-turn CTMP road circuit. Mancinelli, who won at VIR last month with Andrea Montermini, is co-driving this weekend with former European F3 champion Niccolo Schiro also of Italy
Second in the SprintX field and leading the Pro/Am division was Jeroen Bleekemolen of Monaco with a 1:16.301 (116.01 mph) in the No. 54 Black Swan Racing. Am driver Tim Pappas of Boston is Bleekemolen’s teammate at CTMP. The duo won Pro/Am class in Round 4 at VIR.
Patrick Long, last year’s CTMP GT double race winner, was third in SprintX practice in his No. 58 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R with a 1:16.491 (115.73 mph) followed by Toronto’s Kyle Marcelli in the No. 61 R. Ferri Motorsport Ferrari 488 GT3 at 1:16.544 (115.65 mph), Laurens Vanthoor in the No. 14 GMG Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R at 1:16.704 (115.40 mph) and Johnny O’Connell in the No. 3 Cadillac Racing Cadillac ATS-V.R. with a 1:16.742 (115.35 mph).
The fastest Am/Am team Friday in practice was Tyler McQuarrie in the No. 30 MOMO/NGT Motorsports Ferrari 458 GT3 at 1: 18.282 (113.08 mph).
Qualifying for SprintX at CTMP Friday is set for 4:55 p.m. EDT. The opening GTS race of the weekend will be Saturday at 10:35 a.m. and will be live streamed on www.motortrendondemand.com and www.world-challenge.com.
