CRP Racing has secured Canadian Racer Daniel Morad for the 2018 Pirelli World Challenge championship as the team makes the final preparations for the season opener, the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Morad, who joined the team last year for the SprintX championship, will return to the Pirelli World Challenge team as the primary driver of the No. 2 Devilbiss Mercedes AMG GT3 for the full race season.
“I’m happy to have Daniel back with CRP Racing for a second year,” said team owner Nicholas Short. “We believe he deserved this chance after his performances as our SprintX driver last year. He is fast, dynamic, and very focused, and we look forward to seeing how the season unfolds.”
Together with co-driver Ryan Dalziel, Morad celebrated SprintX wins at VIRginia International Raceway and Circuit of the Americas, securing a second place standing in the 2017 championship.
“It feels great to be back with CRP Racing,” said Morad. “We scored a big win in my debut as the SprintX driver, as well as a win to close out my driving duties in the Mercedes AMG GT3. I’m really happy to have the confidence of the team to lead their campaign. I’m looking forward to picking up where we left off.”
The 2018 Pirelli World Challenge season begins this weekend, with the first practice session going green on Friday, March 9, followed by Saturday and Sunday each hosting a race. All but one event in the 10 event race schedule will be double headers, with the Long Beach Grand Prix as the only one-race event. Circuit of the Americas, VIRginia International Raceway, Lime Rock Park, Portland International Raceway, and Utah Motorsports Campus will host the SprintX events, a two-driver format championship within the existing championship.
