After almost a month since a fourth place finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Will Owen and the rest of United Autosports have made their way to Austria for the third round of the European Le Mans Series, the 4 Hours of the Red Bull Ring 2017. Owen will once again pilot the United Autosport #32 Ligier JS P217 along with teammates Filipe Albuquerque and Hugo de Sadeleer in the hopes of crossing the finish line first amongst the thirteen car field of the LMP2 category.
Track activities begin with Free Practice 1 tomorrow at 15:30 local time. There will be another 90 minute session the following day before they tackle Qualifying at 13:35 local time to determine their starting grid positions. Race day, Sunday the 23rd, will kick off with an autograph session at 10:15 in the morning and the green flag due to wave at 13:00 sharp.
Currently second in the ELMS Championship, Owen and United Autosports are only trailing the first place team of G-Drive Racing by 10 points. The competition is close and every point counts as they enter the second half of the season.

“I feel very good about being here at the Red Bull Ring and I’m excited about this race. It’s been awhile since we have been with the ELMS paddock, so it’s good to be back. After Le Mans, the ELMS feels more relaxed after such a big event. Four hours is less intimidating, but this race will actually be very tough because I have never driven the Red Bull Ring before and I have had a chance to practice at all of the other tracks beforehand. This one will be all new so I will have to put my mind to learning it as quickly as possible and getting into a groove.
United Autosports and my teammates Filipe and Hugo have a lot of experience here so it will be good to draw from them and be prepared for the race. I’m looking forward to seeing how all of our preparation pays off and to make our way back to the podium this weekend.”
