Drivex and Brazilian pairing of Marcelo Hahn and Allam Khodair continued their podium streak at Spa-Francorchamps, where Round 3 of the International GT Open took place last weekend.
On Friday, Hahn / Khodair made a strong start to the weekend as they were eighth on the overall chart and 3rd in the Pro-Am class. The following day, Hahn took care of qualifying duties clocking a lap time of 2:19.868 in Q1 to start from row 11 and 8th in Pro-Am class. Hahn also made the opening stint gaining several places at the beginning. Unfortunately he was hit at La Source by another car and spun. Despite the seasoned Brazilian driver rejoined after losing more than 30 seconds. After handing over the Drivex Mercedes to Khodair, his fellow countryman took 6th place in class securing valuable points for the title bid.
The International GT Open came to an end on Sunday. Khodair shone in the morning to qualify fourth overall and second in class with a lap time of 2:16.421. Khodair battled for pole position with drivers such as Fran Rueda, Joel Eriksson, Tom Onslow-Cole or Alessandro Pierguidi. Later in the race, Khodair moved up to second at the start after passing Eriksson and Onslow-Cole keeping WEC Champion at bay. Khodair even led the field before pitting. Hahn’s stint was also extremely strong fighting with drivers such as Lourenço Beirao da Veiga or Giovanni Venturini, the GT Open defending champion. Finally, the Optimum Motorsport Audi overtook Hahn for the class lead but Marcelo still brought second place home.
Hahn strengthens 3rd place in the Pro-Am rankings.
The International GT Open will head to Hungaroring on 7-8 July.
