Drivex has drawn positive conclusion from International GT Open’s Winter Series at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, which hosted two days devoted to testing. Marcelo Hahn and Allam Khodair managed to outperform rivals with their Drivex-run Mercedes AMG GT3. Their closest rival was more than five tenths of a second behind.
From the very beginning, both Brazilian drivers set the pace on the Catalan track scoring a lap time of 1:44.466 in the morning to secure top spot. The rest of the field was unable to lap under the 1:45 barrier. On Saturday, despite fog looming over the circuit, Khodair still managed to beat his previous best lap time to clock a 1.43.585. Previously, Allam also posted a lap time of 1:43.6, another record-breaker lap time improving last year´s pole position record for GT3 machineries of the International GT Open.
The Winter Series will now head to Circuit Paul Ricard on 2-3 March and Drivex will focus on laying the foundations for season kick-off at Estoril next April.
Miguel Ángel de Castro: “We are pleased because our pace was extremely competitive both days. In fact it proven our strenuous work at home and of course on track with our Mercedes-built AMG GT3 and SLS AMG GT3 cars. We tried different set-up solutions and it brought good results and feedback, even improving four tenths of a second the record lap time in Barcelona. Last but not least, Marcelo´s times are getting closer and closer in comparison with Allam’s pace. They are a much more solid pairing right now and it’s because we are looking forward to kicking off the season. We will be very competitive in Pro-am class.”
