Jon Fogarty on the race: “It was a tough weekend for us overall. We expected and certainly hoped to be much more competitive. We started the weekend with a very unusual vibration, which certainly set us back a bit. The highlight of the weekend was hosting the GAINSCO “Circle of Champions”. GAINSCO Auto Insurance activated their sponsorship better than anyone I’ve seen. To host the Circle of Champions is an honor and I wish we had given them something to celebrate. Fortunately, we have another shot for them at the track coming up at our home race in Texas. We had a good test their last week. In fact, we’ve tested at all the rest of the tracks we will compete on and that should really be helpful going into the race weekend where we have so very little time on track. I’m also really looking forward to having a teammate again. Wolf (Henzler) has tested with us several times this year and his experience with the Porsche has been great. I think we will be strong together and I am really looking forward to it. ”
Bob Stallings, Owner, GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing: “It was a difficult day out there. Once of the things that I didn’t realize up until today, is that not every GT car that comes off the assembly line is the same. So, all that work that we did on our other Porsche GT3 R is potentially lost because this car is responding differently. Jon really struggled with the car pushing, then pushing too loose in other areas. He had an “off” at turn one where the car just wouldn’t turn. We’re only off four-tenths from the fastest Porsche, but that is a lot. The good news is, we tested this car at Utah last week and it went well, so we’ll be expecting more in our Sprint X debut.”
