BMW Motorsport Juniors Beitske Visser (NED) and Nico Menzel (GER) will be behind the wheel of a BMW M4 GT4 for the 2018 GT4 European Series season. Both will compete for the RN Vision STS team.
The 2018 season for the BMW Motorsport Junior Programme began in early March with the fitness camp for all participants at Formula Medicine in Viareggio (ITA). All the details of the race schedule for two BMW Motorsport Juniors over the coming months have now been confirmed. Visser and Menzel will have the chance to prove themselves in the BMW M4 GT4 in the competitive environment of the GT4 European Series.
“I am really looking forward to getting started in the BMW M4 GT4 with Nico,” said Visser. “I had the chance to drive the car in Barcelona last year and recorded a win at the first attempt with Dennis Marschall so now I am hoping to continue the success with Nico.”
“It is great to be able to spend a race season driving a car having been involved in its development,” said a delighted Menzel, who completed numerous test and development drives with the BMW M4 GT4 in 2017. “I am really looking forward to the GT4 European Series as the racing there is at a very high level. I think that we have a great set-up but we also understand that Beitske, the team and I will need to get some experience first.”
Visser and Menzel will compete for the RN Vision STS team. The young, ambitious team of experienced motorsport professionals is headquartered in Mönchengladbach (GER) and has been competing successfully in various series since 2016. In addition to the Juniors’ car, RN Vision STS will be competing with two further BMW M4 GT4s in the GT4 European Series 2018 season. The team is also competing in the NES500 series.
“For us, the collaboration with BMW Motorsport within their Junior Programme is a special accolade and a great challenge. Above all, it is a unique opportunity for our up-and-coming team,” said Managing Director Marek Zuchowski. “We have some very ambitious objectives for this year and beyond. We’re convinced that working in such a professional environment will help us to achieve our goals.”
The GT4 European Series season consists of six race weekends. The two season-opening races take place on 7th/8th April, in Zolder (BEL). The series visits Brands Hatch (GBR), Misano (ITA), Spa-Francorchamps (BEL) and the Hungaroring (HUN), before drawing to a close on 15th/16th September with two races at the Nürburgring.
